Do like you said and get a Nexus 10. With 440$ you'll be able to pay for it pretty much in full and it's a far superior tablet.

  • Does it have a digitizer? I wouldn't use a tablet without one. I would probably save it and buy a Lenovo X230t later.

    Yup. They aren't like those rubber ones which have a whole bunch of friction that rub against your screen. They're micro-fiber, so they glide across the screen better than a finger, and they're far more responsive than rubber styluses as well. Link is an example. You can also go for something like [url=http://www.amazon.ca/SANOXY-Microfiber-Rhinestone-Dual-Purpose-Micro-fiber/dp/B009UP3NUU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1382741217&sr=8-4&keywords=micro+fiber+stylus]this[/url], which is what I use. Excellent for switching between paper and tablet. And of course, they don't have all those fancy features the S-pen has.
