I think it's kinda funny that they're pulling out this very japanese-sided ad when The PS4 doesn't release in Japan until late February.
But the video really doesn't show anything that impressive over the competition other than the Vita streaming. Microsoft is also offering video recording and sharing, streaming through Twitch, and bluray playback.
Even then, the Vita playback isn't really a selling point unless you already own a Vita, and the streaming service for it won't even be up and going until some point in 2014 in the US, and an unspecified time in Europe.
It's a good ad, and it shows some of the cool stuff available on Sony's side this gen, but it doesn't at all win Sony this generation in the console wars. Not by a longshot.

Really? You'd think the PS4 would come out first in Japan bc it is made by Sony. Maybe they're just trying to release when Microsoft releases in the states, bc Xbox got the jump on ps last gen.

They said they are releasing late in Japan so they can focus all their resources on a North American release. They want to try and make up lost ground in the US, where the Xbox leads the market, but I'm worried that they may have left their faithful audience in the dust. With the Xbox One possibly releasing 3 full months ahead of the PS4 in Japan, that may give them a fairly decent jump. Microsoft still hasn't set a Japanese release date for the system though, so we'll all have to see how it plays out, it could be an excellent opportunity for MS if they can manage that kind of distribution.

Actually Sony wants to make sure they have the japanese games ready for launch for the japanese market. Japan won't buy the PS4 straight away without good games and Japan doesn't like western style games.

The thing about Xbox, is that it is not popular at all amongst the japanese. Whenever I go to a game store in Japan, there's literally like 2 or 3 xbox games for sale lol.
