I've posted it once and I'll post it again.
Dedicated Servers, Cloud Processing, Smart match, Multitasking OS, smart glass let's you set online matches while you're playing another game on Xbox One.
None of what I mentioned is happening on the PS4, and while not all of these features are important to everyone, I think you'll be hard pressed to not be swayed by at least two of these features.
Not trying to start anything Seventh column but Xbox One is the superior system here.

PS4 is capable of Cloud Processing, capable of multitasking, and we still don't know if every game on Xbone will have dedicated servers. Sony always offers dedicated servers for first party games. They also haven't really detailed their Gaikai services fully so we will have to wait and see when it comes to SmartGlass type things, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had similar features. At least do your homework before you post.

Gaiki was never meant to offload processes, its a streaming service. It doesn't have the amount of server infrastructure to offload a meaningful amount of work off your local console. Smart match is no way on PS4 because you don't have personalized search criteria on the PS4 UI as the Xbox One will have it. You can't multitask on the PS4 to the extent you can on the Xbox One. Running two programs parallel is not something the PS4 can do. I never mentioned games by the way. And dedicated servers doesn't mean running matchmaking algorithms on a Sony server. What Xbox One has is that every online match will be hosted away from local boxes. No lag. No black screen. Just you and how good your connection is with no bad connection holding any bearing on whether or not others will be affected because your console is the host system. I've done my homework friend.

Edited by Toa Axis: 9/9/2013 11:11:41 PMFair enough I suppose. Though I don't see the purpose of Snap. I don't want to Skype someone while watching a movie or TV, it's essentially like having you're phone switched on while in the movie theatre. I don't want to Skype someone while watching an NFL Game, I'd like to save my screen space. Now we know that you can't Snap while gaming, but while using media apps I'd like to have my full screen available to me. When it comes to Smart Match (correct me if I'm wrong), but it simply allows you to have full access to the OS while searching for a Multiplayer game. From what we know of PS4 multitasking, you can suspend whatever you're playing, do something in the OS, and immediately jump back in. I doubt it can suspend the game while it's searching for a match. So it sounds like it's similar, but they've been a bit cagey on things, and they did say they would release details on their OS soon so we'll have to wait and see. BTW, by personalized search criteria do you mean game recommendations based on what you play and buy? Because PS4 has that. But I suppose you have a fair point when it comes to the other things.

Smart match actually does just that, it let's you actually play a game while its searching for an online match on another. You can run two games at the same time its just that you can't play both. You can be playing Ryse while its looking for a Forza 5 match for example and so on. As far as search criteria, its not like the PS4s, with Xbox One you can actually specify what map you want, what gametype to play, so that way you play on your favorite maps while selecting your favorite game mode without being restricted to the game type selections in the game menus.

Ah. The second part seems cool, but the other doesn't. If you have time to play another game while searching for a match then someone's matchmaking system is broken.
-
Well, its not that the matckmaking on the Xbox One is going to take long but if you are specific with your search criteria to where the amount of people who match up with what you want is a lot lower so that it takes long because of it then its convenient also if you happen to enjoy an online game with a very low amount of people playing it, then you're certainly going to run into longer wait times for a match. It frees you up from having to sit in the lobby in those cases.

True, true.

Edited by JOSH55886: 9/9/2013 10:50:10 PMActually yeah, you can multitask on the PS4. But who would? You have a phone/PC for that. And dedicated servers help, but it does not by any means, mean no lag.

Edited by Quantum Leap: 9/9/2013 9:28:41 PM1. The PS4 will feature dedicated servers. 2. The PS4 will also feature cloud processing. 3. I'll give you that one. (however I wouldn't care for it) 4. Don't care for it, id rather just focus on the game I'm playing than watch ESPN on the side. 5. Da -blam!-?

PS4 doesn't have cloud. Gaikai is streaming only.

Edited by Quantum Leap: 9/11/2013 12:11:23 AMThe PS4 will feature the cloud, Gaikai is one of the largest cloud software company's in the world, in-which Sony has purchased for streaming, back-wards capabilities, and a more speedy UI. As-well as possibilities of un-announced features that the cloud will allow for the PS4. The PS4 definitely does have access to the cloud. Obviously, you have no idea what you're talking about.
-
I meant that it won't be able to do what Microsofts Cloud can. Microsoft spent 10 billion on their cloud, Sony bought Gaikai for only 380 million.
-
Ahhh, I see, the way I read your post made me think you were saying the PS4 would not feature The Cloud at all.
-
Oh. I see. It's all good

Really? Opinion much? Dedicated Servers only matter if you play multiplayer. And I've yet to find an article/video that says all X1 games will have dedicated servers, besides that Wired one. It seems all PS4 exclusives will have dedicated servers, not surpirsed since a lot of PS3 exclusives did. Cloud Processing, yay? PS4 has it too. It really can't be used for much. Go look up the DF article on that. And you know, have common knowledge about internet infrastructure in America and most other countries... Smart Match is cool I guess, are you really that lazy that you can't put in your game and press a button to join a game, you have to go out your way to go ahead and do that. Also, with Sony one-upping MS so much, I wouldn't be surprised if they do get those things, and more. They're already talking about the Cloud some more and dedicated servers, though Cerny says Cloud Gaming is nothing now really, which it's not. I don't hate Xbox, I'm even getting one, but you're sounding like a fanboy there, and listing things that aren't even that big really, except for "supposed" dedicated servers.
