how do you know thats the sun?
-
Because we named that specific object The Sun.
-
... you cant prove that its not an optical illusion set up by our government though
-
And you cant prove it is an optical illusion. Explain how it gives off heat, and how we get burned if exposed in direct SUNlight? Does the United States possess something that can light the entire world in a 24 hour period?
-
An optical illusion doesn't produce heat or radiation.
-
the heat might be coming from somewhere else though
-
We can observe heat being produced from The Sun, and measure it.
-
When clouds or objects block the direct line of sight with the sun, also known as casting shadows, if you stand in shade, the temperature is lower. Direct evidence that the sun is the cause for the heating. It also produces visible solar storms, winds, and eclipses the moon on a regular geological timescale. Your move.

Edited by SecondClass: 6/11/2013 8:31:38 PMmaybe its cooler in the shade because the heat-producing elves dont like darkness so they scurry away and try to find more brightness

Then why are they not present in my house when the light is on, and the windows open, even at night? My room cools as the air outside cools and the radiation from the Sun stops heating my home. Additionally, we can see the shadow that the Sun casts on planets and moons as one or the other passes in front of one another. We also know that the planet is rotating along a solar orbit, as we have sent humans to space and had extensive footage and research carried out. I know people who have been into the upper atmosphere (not quite space) who can confirm that it gets colder as you increase your altitude and the radiation is simply passing towards the surface, rather than heating the lack of air around it.

Edited by SecondClass: 6/11/2013 8:40:57 PMtheyre also invisible the absence of evidence isnt the evidence of absence as to your second paragraph, let me ask you a question: have you personnaly seen this "solar orbit" with your own eyes? or the shadow on other planets with your own eyes?
-
Yes, actually. I'm a geography student and have taken an astrology module, where we visited an observatory and were able to look, with our own eyes, at planets and moons in our solar system casting shadows on one another. The absence of evidence is evidence that there is nothing you can use to prove or even base your statement on. Therefore you invisible elves, of which there is no evidence whatsoever, can only be taken as the delusions of a maniac.
