Gaming Laptop for $2000 or less?

Hey I was wondering what kind of gaming laptop I could get for $2000 or less. If possible I would like to know what it is lacking. Thanks

  • Do not get an Alienware...your paying them for the name and the looks. Specs are horrid. Look at ironside computers. They're godly.

  • Depends if you're willing to get a desktop replacement. I have one; the MSi gt60. It's not a terrible deal and will run most game between medium and ultra graphics (medium for Crysis 3, high for BF3, Ultra anything made 2009 or earlier)

  • >build super duper desktop for less than half that price that runs everything well >buy small laptop for school/uni that can just run Office and other academic programs problem solved

    • Gaming laptops are a compromise, I'd recommend a micro desktop. But if you must have a laptop, Asus ROG series are a good option. You could a get a decent laptop for the price, but not what a desktop would give you the price. If you do end up with a laptop, remember that battery life will not be great, and you probably can't upgrade much. Also, toss in a solid state drive. I also recommend Oakley for backpacks, a bit pricey, but very durable.

Get an ITX build instead A gaming laptop is garbage. I have a Lenovo y580 back in October and it sucked balls at gaming. It played GTA IV at 15 fps max settings. Crisis 2 couldn't even be played on extreme without getting b 30fps. Everything else was alright though until I installed Windows 8 and got so mad I bought a Mac. Now I have an mATX build with a 3770k, SLIi GTX670s, 12gb ram and it plays Crysis 3 at 60fps max settings. It was about $1600. For $2,000 you could fcking tri SLI a 670 or a 770 when they come out next week and you'll be set for at least 3-5 years I take it to my friends house because its pretty compact and I just hook it up to his TV and just play games there with an Xbox controller.

        • A friend of mine has a Sony laptop which can play Arma 3 on pretty high settings, and it wasn't even remotely close to $2000. I think he paid about £800 for it. Try looking at Sony laptops.

If you want a well made laptop. Alien ware would be a good choice. but you're also paying for the brand. meh, regardless. i have a Mx17 myself it was arguably worth it.

        • Lenovo Y500 is < $1,000 (I got mine for $850 before tax), and it can play Skyrim on ultra with numerous graphics mods.

        • If you're paying over 2000 for a computer (accessories excluded), you're doing it wrong. What games will you be playing?

            • Not the best CPU but a beast laptop GPU, and it's on the low end price wise, at $1200 or less.
