There have been NO rumours that the Nextbox is always online. Just a Microsoft employee with no links to the Nextbox spouting his bullshit opinion.

Actually that's incorrect. That's ONE source for the rumours I've heard LOOONG before he spouted nonsense on Twitter.
-
I don't even know why he is being counted as a rumour source when he has NO connection with the Nextbox...
-
You know that rumours can come from any source, right? That's kind of what a rumour... is...
-
Yes, but there is such thing as an outlandish rumour and this is one of them. If it came from the Engineering Lead on the Nextbox team I'd take it as a 'vicious rumour'. But this guy has no connection. He merely stated his opinion about always online gaming. By comparison I could post something outlandish on Twitter and that would be a rumour - not so.
-
Ya know, he does work for Microsoft, so it's not unlikely that some details had been passed around the offices. Still, I suppose vicious wasn't the word I was looking for. It's still a rumour from a source inside Xbox, backing up more rumours I recall hearing and reading. I mean, the rumours that there will be no used games also suggests an "always online" console. It's flawed. But still, I actually started this thread as a controller comparison, but the point sprung into my mind again.

I was sure they'd dismissed the no used games thing. By extension I dismissed the always online thing.
-
Perhaps they have and I just wasn't looking in the right direction when they did, but what would help us all out a shedload would be if they just hurried up and revealed the damn thing.
