Bungie. Overload champions.

Nobody likes them. If you were looking for one surefire way to win some goodwill with the community, eliminate overloads. They are the worst thing you've ever done to this game. And I was here for double primaries.

  • Gms are going to be brutal this season with the buggy overload champs, smgs and autos not doing a good job at stunning and the 50% increase to incoming arc damage and no protective light, players will moan. Not free, Conquerer will be very well earned this season.

      Im fine with overload champions what needs work is the mod, overload autos and smgs are ridiculously weak because it takes half the clip to stun them. If they stunned properly then they wouldn’t be an issue

      • i don't see what everyone's issue is with champions, in particular, Overloads. I've had no issues with them in any of the last 3 raids, I don't have issues with them in Lost Sectors, or NF's. A well times RL or sword will take them out even without mods...so I disagree. Being killed by the Architects, that is the absolute worst thing Bungie every came out with, and would make life a lot easier for everyone. I should not die because someone decides to jump on a teleporter at the same time as me.

        • Overloads in general are not that bad. Just a few minor tweaks need to be done. My comments are based upon solo Legend Lost sectors. First off, you have to pre-plan your route and game plan. (Lost Sectors solo as a basis for my comments) The Dreaming city lost sector (Legend) as an example (Aphelion's Rest) from a few days ago. Void grenades work wonders! >grenade, double tap with Gally. Dead OL. Or very similar in Chamber of starlight. I used an auto rifle to stun, then double tap with Gally. Yes, I have the cat so it doesn't have to reload. My route and COVER was pre-planned so I didn't have to be in the open. I do have issues with Overload under two specific circumstances. When they teleport to a position where you can not land a shot on them. You move to cover where you can and they teleport (after full regen) back to where they were. MASTER content where you literally have TWO overloads side by side. Very difficult to try to stun two and kill one without one of them blasting you to pieces. Still working on how to pull that off... Need RL mod for stunning ;-]

        • Divinity stuns them without delay, and also restuns after their swirly cool down disappears, to my surprised without issue. Probably just easier to use that if you have it instead of OL AR/SMG.

          • All that I can say is, use Osteo Striga this season. I took off Gjallarhorn and used this, and it made the Lost Sector cake walk. They stay poisoned for like 10 seconds, and the poison overloads them a second time. They never have a chance to regen. Of course, this is just a band aid. SMGs won't be the Overload mod next season. But this will make things 1000% easier for now.

            • Just get rid of champion mods being locked to single weapon types, make it slot based, make the anti-champion mods all cost 1 energy, and call it a day. Tired of having my loadout for high end activities dictated to me.

              • Literally just improve the overload weapons. Overload bow is god tier compared to everything else because every shot is overload, therefore they can never regen their health. If auto/smg had overload on every bullet they'd be god tier too. Its a super simple change.

              • The mods are trash, and the champs are OP. Non stop homing atacks from across the map, and if you stop shooting him for 1 sec, fully healed. That is if you are lucky to stun him in the first place. Standard bungie dificulty settings, all one hit, homing nonsense...

                MATCHMAKING IN DUNGEONS ASAP! - old

                A cattle-prod should suffice dealing with overloaded champions. Just prod it and the overload should proc! just don't cross the streams like in Ghost busters 👍

                There's only a few small changes I'd make to overloads. Give them a cooldown on their blink and a range limit. So they can't just teleport twice within two seconds and they cannot blink to the wall that's not only behind you but furthest away from you. Although it doesn't help that most overload weapon mods are inconsistent when it comes to stunning. Bow, div and grenades are probably the only reliable mods I've used to stun them. They're not a problem if you can stun them before they begin to embrace their ninja heritage and vanish. But once they begin their blink spam it gets real inconvenient if you aren't prepared.

                Unstoppables and Barriers aren't even as bad as Overloads. I'd rather deal with an Unstoppable Ogre than an Overload Captain.

              • I agree but I'd take it a step further and get rid of captain. If you have two of them in the same space you can't take down their shields because they teleport so much.

              • Honestly if they'd just let the champion mods be slotted to weapons instead of armor that would solve the issue. Then it'd just be a matter of 3 mods... anti-barrier, overload, and unstoppable.... pick your weapons, slot and go.

                  Only thing that is consistent vs overloads is osteo & void nades. They stunned so much easier using bows. Using any other smg besides osteo just takes forever and a day to stun them & kill them. I wish we could apply these mods to whatever we prefer but that will just make things too easy & bungie doesn't want that.

                  Try doing a Lost Sector alone without heavy. The overloads literally regen faster than an autorifle can lower them. Reason why is cause you have to shoot for 2-3 seconds before overload shots even proc. But THEN you also have to reload at the end of the clip. It goes > Shoot 2-3 seconds > stun > ther half of the clip takes down health > reload action > Overload already started regenning health > shooting while you can't stun while they regen till finally overload round proc > oops their full health again. The only reason no one notices is cause in Raids, Nightfalls, etc, you have other people shooting and stunning too. Or you have heavy. The only reason I beat the lost sector is I stunned him, ran past him, and went BACK to kill him like 3 minutes later when I got a heavy brick. Before you say "well then don't just use an autorifle" well no. Every past season you could kill the Overload with the Overload weapon of that season. Biggest problem here is actually A) Auto Rifles are the weakest PVE class of weapon and B) Aiming doesn't proc Iverload rounds, wasting almost half of your clip does. Anti barrier and unstoppable are fine solo. I solo VOX Master and see no problem killing them for the pinnacles. Bungie please fix or get rid of Overloads already

                  • Champions need to be removed in genral. If not that, at least remove the mods needed to stun them out of the arms so I can finally make a build involving my arms while also toning champions down. They do not deserve health regen either. The limitation of what weapons I use also piss me off cause I want to use a multitude of weapons but champions ruin everything on diversity. Really burnt out on using Bows because of last season and bungie has the audacity to bring them back again for barriers. I'm tired of using the same crap.

                  • needing half the mag to stun them is not even a problem with me, what is a problem is their HP regeneration, like really ? if I so much think of reloading, ya know like any normal person would think to approach a hard enemy, they get insta 100 HP out of the blue

                    • Agree 1000%. I couldn't complete the bay lost sector this morning because of this. As soon as the white highlight disappears it is back to full HP almost instantly.
