While there are many, many outliers with weapons in Crucible -- one stands out to me the most: Witherhoard. It's been in the game longer than I've been back to D2, but I cannot understand why this weapon's damage output can dish out raid mechanic dps on Guardians.
While I understand zone denial is its shtick, does mere clipping it need to (or close to it) spell the end of your life? Surely something can be tweaked here.
Options:
-Reduce the radius
-Lower the overall dps
-Lower the duration
These are just some quick examples. While I'll never understand the mindset of a Witherhoard player, the 'shoot and forget' playstyle to rack up kills is far too punishing for those getting merely clipped in it.
Looking for outside opinions on this, but not really interested in the "not top ten" / "don't see it in Trials" / etc. These are not always indicators of something that's over-tuned.

Honestly I thought this was going to be a good joke post. I mean it kind of still is but I’m also a little disappointed it’s not.

Clearly you never saw it when it did 200dmg when it was bugged for a week or two 😂 Ps: witherhoard is probably one of the worst special weapons to use and hardly does anything health wise. If your really dying to it often then that's on you. It's easy to see and dodge and easy to jump over.
-
It's main strength is closing off ape lanes and zone control. Let off the W key and don't standing the red glowing goo.
-
Wait, you’re actually complaining about Witherhoard?
-
Here's a good solution. It's called not stepping into the flashing red circle of death. Super difficult tech, I know.

It’s fine as is. -
Have you tried not standing or running through the red pool of goo?

If you stand in the goo you deserve to die by the goo.

I use witherhoard occasionally. When I do, I run it with my stars in shadows. One of the ways I use it is for zone control/denying entry. If I hit someone, it’s by pure accident. The other way is that I shoot it before engaging. It gives the person I’m fighting 1 less place to stand.
-
Considering other gl are 1 hit ko…. No nerf needed. Does it occasionally pancake some blueberries on a cap point in qp/ib yes but it’s their own fault for standing in the splooge. I’ll take witherhoard users any day of the week vs invis fusions

Don’t stand in it then ya gronk, dumb post

People are still complaining about witherhoard/jotun? You probably never played against invisible hunters with Lord of Wolves
-
2 RepliesIs it even being used in PvP? I haven't seen anyone using it in a while.
-
Witherhord is highly amusing to use. But it's only really useful on very tight maps.

Yeah, I do think that Witherhoard needs to get reined in a little, especially in PvP. They just get free kills off of unsuspecting players, especially in 6v6s. However. Fails with Witherhoard in 3v3s (especially in Trials) will transform you into an instant laughingstock. -
Lmao in a round of trials last night, as soon as I started running when the match started I see something land in front of me and I died. Barely got to get out of spawn. Reminded me of noobtubes in CoD lol it made me laugh

2 RepliesEdited by Sweet Lew 88: 3/30/2022 1:27:55 AMIt's fine, hardly anyone uses it anymore. It was bad a year ago when it was new. It's fine now. If you nerf it, they will move to their next favorite weapon and kill you with that instead....

waaaahhhhhhhhhh

Really only a problem in enclosed spaces like on Cauldron and the zone areas of Exodus Blue. Could maybe have a shorter duration but its one of those weapons that you feel like you're not very good if you complain about it.
-
The ONLY time I die to witherhoard is if I spawn on it or get direct hit by it. If you are walking in to brightly colored puddles… yikes

you know this game have a something called jump/run?
