I was thinking about this on my way home from work. So a guardian upon waking up has no memory at all, a blank slate. What I find interesting though is Crow, former Prince Uldren, and Savathun, hive god of trickery, came about as guardians. Uldren mercilessly murdered cayde and betrayed his own people yet as crow, he may be the most compassionate guardian. Savathun, along with the rest of the hive, wanted to snuff out the light. But as a guardian, her priority was to keep the traveler safe. So could it be that you, the saving grace of humanity time and time again, could have at one point in time been the most dangerous criminal/warlord on earth? Which then leads to how the darkness destroys everything. Stasis is taboo. But like any other weapon or tool, can be used for good. But the darkness also makes you remember what the light made you forget. And that might be the dark future the stranger had been talking about. You, empowered by the light, but reminded of who you once were, destroying all in your path; unchallenged and unchecked. So what if that were to happen in a future expansion? A civil war breaking out as guardians regain their memory, their personality, and motives. How appropriate of a name for expansion like Lightfall for something like this.

Yeah a certain % of us would be. From what I remember Cayde wasn't that great of a guy in his past lives, especially when he was human. Crow started with a blank slate, the same as everyone else did. If someone holds Crow responsible for his actions as Uldren then they should also hold themselves responsible for whatever they did before they were brought back.

3 RepliesFrom what I recall my guardian looked like he died in one one hell of a traffic jam or accident.

Honestly If this was a darker game, there would have been a civil war in Season Of The Splicer , all 3 factions had guardians among there ranks , and I seriously doubt all of them would have blindly sided with Ikora over there faction leaders , and judging from the comments on this forum about eating hatchlings, there would be alot of dense close minded aholes Ikora and Saint would have to kill -
The Pyramid relic and its power seems to be exclusive to us, the protag, so I doubt that anyone else will be undergoing memory recall from past lives until the Pyramids actually arrive on Earth or start making a major move. That said, whatever the spicy Doritos did the first time almost destroyed Humanity before the Traveler stepped in so I doubt most who would be able to recall those events would even take kindly to the Pyramids after regaining those memories.

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 3/28/2022 6:33:54 PMDarkness power doesn’t make you remember anything. Likewise, two examples of bad people turned Guardian doesn’t mean every Guardian was a lowlife. Ana Bray is a Guardian and was, by all accounts, a good decent person. Civil war is likely to happen but not from regained memories. Darkness being used is driving Aunor to become more zealous. That’ll be the catalyst.

My Guardian was a bitcoin farmer in their original life. So yes, he was a criminal.
