Why?
1. You have to grind the red box weapons to get the material.
2. This prevents leveling up weapon you want to shape/reshape.
3. Takes time to get used to new rolls.
4. Weapons shaped have bad rolls. Even reshaped weapons with enhanced perks are not god rolls.
5. Random drops tend to have better stats and perks most desirable.
For weapon shaping to be worth the grind I want to be able to shape a weapon that puts the weapon in a category that I want to keep, to use regularly and that gives me an edge in PVP and PVE. Otherwise what's the point?
After 2 years of grinding and constant battle with trying to figure out what weapons and armor I want to keep I have decided its time to clean house including my shaped weapons and exotics (which is most of them).
If I am not having fun.... it not me its you. Edit: (I am being sarcastic here just FYI)

17 RepliesThe key thing to remember is that Bungie have intentionally engineered Destiny to be as big a time and money sink as possible. They have zero respect for peoples' time and show it with every update, every TWAB, every nerf, and every new currency. If people are cool with that, this game is amazing and exactly what they need to enjoy the feedback loop. If you like spending time doing other things and dabbling in Destiny from time to time, this game is a hellish hamster wheel where you never feel like you've achieved anything and you're always trying to catch up to the rest of the pack.

2 RepliesI was so excited for this. But then I found the game play loop to be… 1. Grind resonance weapons to unlock the pattern.. 2. Craft your weapon. 3. But wait, you need to grind more red bar weapons to get resources to reshape your crafted weapons. Which means you aren’t using your crafted weapons to level them up. 4. Enhanced perks cost waaaaaay to much materials which means you have to grind weapons to get the materials to reshape your weapons you’ve crafted, but you aren’t using the weapons you’ve crafted so you can’t level them up… 5. Most enhanced perks aren’t worth using anyways so.. why bother… Thus, excitement all gone and I’d rather play Elden Ring anyways.

1 ReplyHere’s the cherry on the icing: After taking incredible time and costing insane resources to finally get a weapon you like, they go nerf the perks you spent ages on just like the did with the firmly planted nerf today.

4 RepliesAgreed. The only good weapon is Peace of Mind pulse kills faster than Vex in Crucible. Come to Pass, Sweet Sorrow, Syncopation-53, Pointed Inquiry, Empiral Evidence, Deliverance, *INSERT ALL WEAPONS HERE* are nothing compared to my Fatebringer with Explosive Payload, and Firefly for PVE or my Vex Mythoclast for PVE/PVP or my Igneous Hammer (Adept) for PVE (never tried it in PVP). None of the crafted weapons are desirable or any better than my inventory prior to Witch Queen. I get they don't "want power creep" so the may be reluctant to make the crafted weapons any good, but if that was even a valid excuse then nerf everything across the board by 15% and make crafted weapon unaffected by mass nerf. I guess this is just the beta of what's to come but let's get real, Bungie never learns from their mistakes and this crafting is a mistake.

Random drops tend to have better stats and perks most desirable.[/quote] ....What? The shaped weapons have all the same perks as the randomly rolled versions of those weapons. You can pick the exact ones you want, if you reshape a weapon with enhanced perks and its not a god roll thats user error. And no, random drops of those weapons dont have more desirable stats, for the exact same reason. Its the same gun, except you get to choose the perks on one of them. Unless youre comparing the crafted weapons to uncraftable weapons, this is an absurd argument. And even if thats what you were doing there are plenty of counterexamples. Fathers sins is the best rapid fire sniper weve ever had. Likely suspect is a crazy good fusion and now that people are noticing it its starting to see a lot of use, thoughtless has crazy rez denial in modes like trials and absurdly high uptime in pve because of enhanced overflow, forebearance is salvagers salvo but better because its a wave frame, deliverance is the first kinetic legendary fusion and its perk pools are crazy too.

I was just going to say the that it is obnoxious to collect all the throne world patterns.

4 RepliesIts just more pointless grindy shite. Theres no middle ground with this game. Good gun play, beautiful art design but boring grind and crap gameplay systems. This season is pretty -blam!- so far.

2 RepliesEdited by SirEman80: 3/28/2022 1:00:49 PMWeapon shaping is bad luck protection for horrible rng. If you get your 5/5 roll before you craft your own version, awesome. But if rng takes you for a spin it’s nice to have a system to remedy that even if it does take a long time. Long run, crafting devalues the loot pool the same way getting that 5/5 roll does. Weapons are headed in the right direction with origin perks and the like though.

Yup. It's a ridiculous, empty, tedious loop. For example: It took me until yesterday to even unlock the pattern for the seasonal 540 pulse. Only reason I unlocked it at all is because of the new ability to target one red bar a week. Now I have a really bad roll on a weapon I want and "all I have to do" is level it up to 14 or 16 or whatever arbitrary level to actually unlock perks that make it worth crafting. Oh, but wait... now that I have the pattern they're dropping as red bars from everywhere... and I need the materials so I can't ACTUALLY play with MY pulse because I must decode all these red bars taking up space... Wish I had room to put them in my vault, but crafting has made vault space even more valuable. It isn't fun, and you're right... it's not us, it's Bungie. They've ruined QoL in the game in one collection of changes that accompanied Witch Queen. And man, are population numbers dropping fast.

6 RepliesMy biggest gripe is the entry cost. Not only do I have to do the same activity ad nausea but I also have to hope the weapon I want to shape drops AND is has deepsight AND it drops 5 TIMES. What the were you morons even thinking? That’s not fun. That’s terrible! That you even thought this ridiculous over gated rng bullshit that literally takes longer than just farming a desired roll would be engaging in any way is just… stupid. Very very stupid. I mean did you even test drive this in house at all?
-
My main gripe is that once you spend the materials you should permanently unlock the trait (or be able to go back to it for a very low cost (like 1 upgrade module) not pay the full cost to shape it again By making the costs so prohibitive most players are going to wait for streamers (and their discord communities) to say what the best crafted rolls are for each gun; then the casuals will just craft them once and you will end up with the same extremely narrow metas we always have, which crafting was supposed to fix

8 RepliesThis is all just nonsensical complaining for the sake of attention. I’ve already crafted all weapons minus five raid weapons and never had an issue with materials. You literally just complete them as you get them (not even hard but you kids love exaggerating it) and don’t pointlessly store them in your vault. If it did exist, I would still be grinding PsiOps for a god roll of sweet sorrow and thoughtless but I’ve already made my own.

3 RepliesI like it except how long it takes to level up a crafted weapon to level 16 to unlock the ability to craft what I actually want. If they reduced that grind by half I'd be ok with it.

1 ReplyI want double perks. I don’t want to go to enclave every time I need to change perks

2 RepliesEdited by gabezilla101: 3/29/2022 4:36:57 PMYou’re correct and like everything they implement it needs to be tweaked and changed for it to be functional. It’s the start of it so just like armor 2.0 it was a better system but had flaws that needed to be addressed. I’ve crafted the exotic SMG, the initial glaive and I use them regularly. I’ve also crafted weapons to unlock the exotic glaives. I have a god roll piece of mind pulse and I plan on crafting one to compare how much better the enhanced perks are in comparison. I don’t think crafting was ever intended to remove random rolled weapons to chase but instead develop a group of weapons that are hand tailored for end game activities to enhance specific builds players use. With that said the raid weapons are extremely powerful weapons and can be crafted. Those weapons will be OP in any activity. So realize what the intention of crafting is and be patient as they improve it.

6 RepliesJust wait. Purchasable weapon leveling coming to a certain store near you. Bank on it.

I re-rolled the scout and then something 90% close dropped with a similar roll. What a waste it was.

4 RepliesGot my Titan stocked with 10 red weapons in kinetic, energy, heavy. Who thought it would be a good idea to have these complete on kills and activities. I don’t want to run 20+ strikes. I would have liked for blueprints to be a rare drop (like a catalyst) from activities and a leveling system simple like the D1 days with motes of light.

Edited by Althanash: 3/29/2022 5:56:56 AMIt's a system barely out of infancy. Relax. If we could shape our weapons with enhanced perks right off the bat it would kill the grind off more and put replay ability further into the dirt than it already is. The Attunement process needs to be faster. " Even reshaped weapons with enhanced perks are not god rolls." My Auto Loading / Enhanced Explosive Light rocket would like a word. "Takes time to get used to new rolls." - It doesn't. "1. You have to grind the red box weapons to get the material. 2. This prevents leveling up weapon you want to shape/reshape." - Yes we do grind for material sure. But the only thing preventing you levelling up a weapon.......yeah it's you. "For weapon shaping to be worth the grind I want to be able to shape a weapon that puts the weapon in a category that I want to keep, to use regularly and that gives me an edge in PVP and PVE. Otherwise what's the point?" The point is to get some weapon rolls that RNG might not give you. All weapons can give you an edge....if you're bad even the best gun won't help you.

5 RepliesSoooo you want instant god rolls?

It’s not “dead” I just haven’t gotten 5 red box’s from the raid yet.

13 RepliesReject guardian Return to Tenno

Meh. I just looked up the weapons I was curious on light.gg and then played with the perks to see what rolls I wanted to go with. Then focused on just those weapons. It’s a super easy system. It could be done better for sure and hopefully they adjust it. ATM I have 3 weapons I’ve crafted and love. There are some great weapons you can craft and with little effort make them perfect for how you intend to use them.

3 RepliesThen go play something else and dont waste the rest of our time reading your parting statement I enjoy my crafted frames and have a excess of resonant frames complete maybe this isnt the game for you
