For an activity than is meant to be farmed/run multiple times a week it can be quite frustrating. Most groups have 1 person stuck AFK on the cart to move it, while the remaining 5 run off and fight. There have been more than a few rounds where I was forced to stand there, as no one else on the fireteam seemed to care. Talk about a boring experience. I can't confirm if the speed of the cart is altered based on the number of players in range of it, but I believe it does. The goal of this thread is for feedback, and suggestions, not to complain.
My current ideas on how to make the activity more enjoyable/interactive mostly seem to hover around the idea of a debuff, and clearing it.
1: Make the area give a debuff that can only be cleared by standing in range of the cart. This should keep people rotating back to keep it moving.
2: Make the cart apply a debuff instead of the area. Once a player has so many stacks, the cart will no longer move from their presence. Personally, this idea seems like a better version of 1 to me. This way people have to rotate for the cart to move, and one person doesn't get stuck there out of range of all the fun for half the event.
3: The cart is propelled by refilling it with an item dropped by mobs in the area. Similar to motes ect. This is something that is in the game already, and encourages people to go out and return to the cart to proceed. However, this encourages team play less than 2, and possibly even 1 imo.
4: Make (larger?) speed increases to the movement of the cart when more are in range. This is the most simple solution. We all know efficiency is such a huge part of this game for most. If the speed changes are impactful enough, people will want to be there regardless.
There's a poll here as to which of the ideas you guys like the most, but it'd be great to hear other players ideas. This is my first post on these forums, so if I can manage to update the poll with more ideas as we go I'll try my best!
