I tried using an auto rifle just for fun yesterday, it was extremely difficult to do well with a monte Carlo or my gnawing hunger. Not only do I need to land almost 99% of my shots in headshots but I’m also getting flinched left and right by hand cannons, it feels impossible to outplay a hand cannon using an auto rifle even when I land my shots first. I had to switch to my SMG since thats the only rapid fire weapon archetype with a good ttk and forgiveness that allows me to melt a hand cannon user. Auto rifles desperately need a buff, I know we all meme on auto rifle meta but does it hurt to buff auto rifles to a viable state? Idk why bungie makes auto rifles broken or straight up trash. There really is an equal ground but They refuse to buff that area. An atuo rifle that lands all headshots has a tkk of about .8, as soon as you land even one body the ttk goes up to a full second. What auto rifles need is an increase in body shot damage so it has more forgiveness. That way it can keep its ttk without breaking the game and becoming another auto rifle meta

Ahhh yes the auto rifle complainer. I need to make a bingo game out of these HC hate threads lmao.

How can you hit 99% of your headshots if your bring flinched left and right?

Easy, I land my headshots while taking a ton of flinch but miss one or 2 bullets due to the flinch only to die in the end. Thats why I said 99%, because its that 1% of bullets that stray due to me taking flinch causing my ttk to go up leaving the hand cannon user enough room to kill me. Just go and use an auto rifle and try to outplay a hand cannon user, majority of those fights you will lose the duel. Try to land 100% of those shots to reach a .8 ttk, good luck with that though because its almost impossible for that to happen. On paper, .8 looks really good but an auto rifles true ttk is over a second when you have to try and land headshots and your weapon registers a few body shots or deal no damage when taking flinch because of a hand cannon.
