There’s only 3 possibilities.
He’s coming back as a lightbearer.
It’s a meta reference to the fact that King’s Fall will eventually be in Destiny 2.
Or it’s complete BS.

She herself said she did not wish to use that title to become the next taken king. So it could be someone else will take up the mantle. Or. One of the other options you mention, including being one of the lies.

Meanwhile we were supposed to take up his mantle after killing him but we refused. Had she said oryx will return it would be one thing. But she said the taken king.
