It’s not an ethical issue. Someone isn’t behaving unethically simply because you don’t like what they are doing, and people didn’t bother to learn what their money actually bought them. The DCV is necessary so that the game can continue to run properly on outdated, underpowered last-gen consoles. Without it, the game would wind up like Cuberpunk 2077 did. It would run well on pc, but would be unplayable on PS4 and XB1. So the choice is to either hold onto old stuff in a dead game… or let go of the old stuff so that we can continue to have new stuff.

Yep. I mean, at a certain point Bungie will have to cutoff support for “old gen” consoles for the latest DLC’s, just like Rise of Iron. You have to think that by the time Lightfall ships, some people will literally be playing on hardware that is 10 years old — if they continue to support it.

  • For the sake of game preservation I would have preferred Bungie developing D3, but you don't always get what you want. Bungie decided against that route and went with the DCV to keep the game from dying under its own weight. Not a fan of the DCV but I see it as a necessary evil that might be alleviated once older consoles are phased out.

  • Anthem showed what happens when a game tries to go radio-silent in an effort to reinvent itself.

  • R.I.P. I was hoping the could pull that one off. In a way, the competition would have been good for Destiny.

  • So was I. The bitter irony of it all was that Bioware got the hard part right. They just needed—-like Bungie—-to get the RPG aspects right. Bioware just didn’t have the resources and EA just doesn’t give a -blam!-….
