The Destiny Defenders will mob you if you criticize their game. I like Destiny a lot and will continue playing it, maybe less because other games coming out this month that interest me more, but I'll still try to keep up on it. That being said, I do think it's unethical whether it's written in the terms of service or not. Same day loan companies have everything stated in their terms of service as well, but what they do is unethical and they prey on poor people. However I think you have a valid question, but a lot of the destiny defenders will attack you personally rather than explain why they don't think it's unethical. English is obviously a second language for you but I see a lot of comments attacking that, which says more about them than it does you.

  • You're largely right, and in context, I note: Personal attacks are the refuge of the weak-minded and those without any valid point.

  • I think it is no more unethical than shutting off servers for an older game. It’s definitely not great PR if a company -blam!- the servers off on a 3 year old MP game, but it isn’t unethical. The impact is lessened the loner the practice goes on. Maybe the first time they did it, it could feel like it came without warning. But the second time shouldn’t be a surprise. And at this point if you take issue with the game only being playable for 3 years and do not feel it is worth the money or right, then vote with your wallet. Clearly it’s just how that company does business. But it’s not predatory. No software company is ever forced or obligate to indefinitely support software. And Live Service software that requires connection to a server was never promised to work offline. Once the service is turned off it’s gone.

  • Its there to avoid the warframe shutting of consoles fiasco, if you are not aware, i started playing warframe again on my xbox one fat and while playing it sometimes makes my xbox shut down on its own, and i was like "must be a xbox one fat issue" and to my surprise, when i researched about this i saw people with xbox series X and series S complaining about the same thing, its the optimization of the game thats the problem

  • I understand that they needed to remove content to avoid the game becoming bloated. I think it was in Year 3 of D2 they announced the content vault. Anything after that date, people have been warned about the possibility of things being vaulted before buying. The question of whether it's ethical is that they removed content from years 1 and 2 that people had paid for and knew nothing of a possible content vault at that time. If they want to be a subscription service like Netflix, Game Pass, or FFIV then people would be more understanding of them adding and removing content regularly. It may not be illegal but it is unethical in my opinion. If people are okay with it and don't complain then more and more companies will start doing it.

  • Unethical, how so? Bungie’s Terms of service for both Destiny and Destiny 2 have always contained a statement about the their right to remove content and/or even completely shutdown the game(s) without reimbursement.

  • I didn't say it was illegal. Ethics is subjective. My opinion. Not going to explain again what I've already posted as to my reasoning. You don't agree, fine.

  • Ethics seeks to resolve questions of human morality by defining concepts such as good and evil, right and wrong, virtue and vice, justice and crime. “Justice and crime”, and by extension what is legal or illegal is also a matter of ethics.

  • I think its also the fact of like, a new player buys witch queen for example, lets say they didn't implemented the vault it would go like "for you to catch up with thw story you have to play red war, curse of osires, warmind, forsaken and all of its seasonal stories, shadowkeep with all seasons, beyond light with all season, then you will understand the witch queen, that would 10000% be a turn off for someone who bought it
