I've always hated how random it is on which item gets the pinnacle drop but its never been this much of a pain. I've done 8 pinnacle activities this week (all I have access to rn) and I need 1 more pinnacle (gauntlets) to reach 1330 without my artifact. NONE of these 8 drops were for my gauntlets. This is the second week this has happened now.
Destiny is such a grind as it is, it shouldn't be this way.
Why can't things be more prioritised to what we don't have at pinnacle level... its just inconvenient.

2 RepliesBecause the design goal of the Milestone and Pinnacle systems was to throttle progression. The Milestone system was added to the game late in Y1 of Destiny 2, when Bungie realized they had made a gigantic mistake in Designing the game. With fixed weapon rolls and cosmetic armor...once you got one of everything? There was no reason to play any more. "How do you make your tenth Better Devils interesting?" Answer: You can't. So there was on reason to continue to play other than shooting people in the face in Crucible...and the player base hated vanilla D2 Crucible too. As a result Bungie was desperate to find a way to keep us grinding away at a loot game with basically no loot. So they came up with the Milestone system, and it basically BROKE the relationship between player time investment and rate of progression. So they kept us playing by playing hide-and-seek with progression....and turning it from an investement process and into a slot machine. ...and that fact that the game effectively steals your time by frequently not giving you anything that will progess your character in return for your time is what you're feeling. You have every right to be angry and frustrated about, because this move breaks EVERY rule of RPG game design where progression goes. Every other well-designed RPG gives you predictable progression based on how much you play, and they also give you the freedom to play whatever you want to play in order to progress. While Bungie's system turns progression into a gamble that you frequently walk away from empty-handed....and handcuffs you into a very narrow set of activities that you have to engage with....and the rest of the game becomes a waste of time progression-wise. In short the system is DESPARATELY broken....and poorly (maliciously) designed...and Bungie has never gotten around to fixing it. They sanded off some of the rough edges to make it more tolerable, but has never actually fixed. it.
