The Stag needs two very minor buffs:
The rift dropped on death should inherit the properties of your normal rift, meaning it would create an arc soul or freezing pulse with the appropriate setup.
The rift dropped on death should persist until you revive, rather than being on a timer. The concept of this exotic is clearly to make it easier for your team to revive you, however in harder PVE content the revive timer means the rift has expired before you can even be revived.

So.... about this post...
-
Or bungie could just give us an actual useful exotic and leave dumpster juice exotics like this where they belong
-
If they reworked stag into being an immediate self rez that consumed your entire super meter, that would be cool too
-
1 ReplyNeed rework for solo
-
It needs a complete overhaul, fym lmao
-
The Stag needs more than a buff if it ever wants to see the sun on my account. It never has and never will unless some major changes happen. A full rework could save it, it saved the Aeon set.
-
Nah, I think it needs a full rework. Maybe a devour rework as well and it could be like some reaper esque build
-
2 RepliesBeing damaged grants rift energy. Being critically injured grants your entire rift back.
-
2 RepliesA rift should drop when your are critically injured. It should grant enough healing on par with OEM or Wormhusk. It could also take your class ability as well but the regen on your class ability should be way faster.
-
4 RepliesAeon soul does a better job then Stag exotic ever will. Gain near full rift energy when an ally dies. When reviving gain full class abilty. The Stag needs an entire rework to save it.
-
Aeon soul is the way to go if you want to have rifts up at all times in pvp and pve. In pvp I love aeon soul. Pair with frozen orbit with surplus and high impact reserves. I got a some really nice collaterals recently just because my rift was always up. I'm a terrible sniper so body shots in a rift are fun for me. I'm improving though but aeon with that sniper are a great safety net for when I miss headshots.

Edited by Jared_van_Kell: 8/11/2021 10:19:48 PMWhat the Stag should do is, in addition to its current perk, enable rifts to last longer than normal and casting a rift, be it from death or doing it normally, releases a pulse that blinds and damages nearby enemies. It would mean that if you are killed by an enemy up close, you damage and blind that enemy. If there are several enemies nearby it makes getting the rez off a lot easier.
-
It just needs one buff…it needs to be something else…anything else really…
-
No buff will help the stag. It needs a rework.
-
Im sorry but no exotic that rewards you for being a trash player would ever be considered a viable exotic. An exotic that only activates on death is the most garbage thing in the game, a rift of all things dropping from the stag is useless. Its no different than being alive and placing a rift.stag is hands down the worse exotic in the game. The only way to make this exotic viable while keeping some similarities to the exotic is getting 2-3 kills drops a rift on the enemy killed. In crucible, every 2-3 kills will drop a rift on the guy you kill. It gets better if getting kills also help regen your own rift.
-
Stag needs full rework, its concept is flawed unless they're willing to seriously SERIOUSLY buff it. Im talking like you drop a rift thats twice as effective and lasts twice as long when you die.
-
It just needs a redesign entirely. Rift energy when critically wounded is almost never useful -- you're either holding your Rift for those times after being critically wounded to heal behind cover, or you're using Empowering Rift so the energy gained for being almost dead isn't useful to your playstyle. Plus, any exotic that only does something for you after you've died instead of something that would prevent you from dying in the first place, is going to be bad. Unless it turns you into a nuclear bomb on death, it's not very helpful to your team if you fall, even with a pathetic rift on the ground. That said, there are a ton of junk Exotic Armors in the game that either fill niches no one asked for, fill niches that you can't even leverage properly, are completely outclassed by a different exotic that does the playstyle better, or are just worse than a "boring" neutral exotic due to how the game is designed. The only thing The Stag has going for it is how it looks.

Buffed today Nerfed tomorrow
-
Hear me out, what if stag now made it so rifts dealt DOT to enemies that touched them in addition to its current perks. This would make rifts such more tactical and rifts dropping on your dead body would probably get a lot of kills since in pvp, most players are trained to run over dead players for ammo and in pve, adds tend to attack your ghost after you died.
-
No exotic should work around relying on you or your teammates’ death.
-
"Failure" exotics/perks are always going to feel bad.
-
6 RepliesIt needs a complete rework. It’s benefits are too situational to really be useful.
-
1 ReplyIt needs reworked entirely. As others have probably said, it's just too niche to be worth using over better exotics. The fact that its exotic trait requires you to either be consistently critically injured or dead to make consistent use of it shows how terrible it is be design.
-
It needs a rework complete rework. Any exotic with a perk that promotes dying has no place in this game.
-
2 Repliesneeds a complete rework: Rift cast time is reduced Rift placed on death and re-spawn will full rift energy Enemies that pass through rift are damaged and blinded for 3 sec
-
It allows you to spam rifts in high end content considering how many times you get one shot. It’s an exotic that’s meant to keep you alive and does just that… and if you happen to die it helps out your teammates…
