Year 3 of D1 was so much better than D2 is now. These are the best reasons in my opinion.
You could do any activity and progress to 400 Light.
Exotic engrams, strike specific loot, faction packages, raids, and Archon Forge drops were all guaranteed to be above your light level and up to 400 Light.
You used skeleton keys for strike specific loot, instead of running the same strike a hundred times.
Infusion was easy, cheap, and you could use extra gear to infuse your other characters. You didn't have to play the game 24/7 like you do now.
There were Tier 12 armor builds. Cooldowns were fast. The adjustments for Mobility, Armor, and Recovery were in the skill tree and easy to change on the fly. Skill trees were more complex and customizable too.
Shaders actually worked correctly and changed the color of your armor. Not just parts of it.
Class items were unique, and sold by the Speaker.
Factions actually existed.
Vendor gear updates actually happened, and vendor rolls changed weekly.
With Age of Triumph, all the raids were updated and made relevant.
The raids weren't overloaded with annoying mechanics.
The game was actually fun, instead of being a boring, unrewarding, grindy wannabe WoW clone.
And most importantly, the game was made for EVERYONE, not just YouTubers and elitists that play the game 24/7.

Have to disagree with the raid statement. D1 raids were literally mechanics: the game
-
But with exotic quests and things now requiring secret puzzles, it’s all a hell of a lot more convoluted than it used to be. D1 raids are pretty similar to D2 dungeons in my opinion
-
You forgetting outbreak prime and necrochasm and Tom, they all had long quests to get them. And d2 dungeons are alot easier than the 2 later d1 raids since you can't fully solo them all the way through.
-
I’d argue that outbreak perfected is more annoying to get in D2 than it was in D1. As for Necrochasm, I don’t really remember the quest, just that I completed it without much help or knowledge of how to do Crota efficiently
-
Necro chasm needed a weapon the drop through rng from hive and outbreak as I remember was pretty horrible to get compared to d2. D1:lengthy quest that needs alot of different players vs D2: a short quest that can be done in under 30 mins (incliding quest mission).
-
I never had a problem with getting husk of the pit to drop. I even reset to get the one that only needed thrall kills, and it still didn’t take me as long

Thank streamers and bungie for listening to them.

Exactly! D1 will always beat D2. Pretty sad to see something that was headed for greatness be so wrongfully gutted to half its former self

BTW this was from an old forum I saw once

I still think (and always will) that they are the only group Bungie truly listens too. (one streamer in particular)

Agreed! I’ve been playing since Destiny 1 Beta. I’ve played through all the awesome fun times with friends, and dealt with all the Nefariousness that Bungie snuck into the game, or simply changed, purposely forcing the world to play Destiny as Bungie wanted it played (not as individual gamers wanted). Yes, I completely agree with you, by the end, Destiny 1 was in all ways superior over Destiny 2.... except for the introduction of ledge grabbing! What a simple concept... reaching out to catch yourself and pull yourself up onto the ledge rather than letting yourself fall into the abyss... (there’s top notch development for you)! But keep in mind, no matter how you, myself, or everyone else whom agree, there will be those who will disagree, call us childish names, and defend Bungies actions wether they be past, present and future questionable decisions.

very fair, as a pvp player the game feels somewhat stale. I wasnt a huge sparrow racer, but it would add some nice variety and would be pretty casual in an fps.

AMEN Wont lie I still play D1 every so often and this post has inspired me to play it again so I will! Also Caydes I’m the tower and I get to see my guy Executor Hideo, vive the monarchy!
