I have to disagree with the possibility of Calus' ship drawing inspiration from the Leviathan. The ship is modeled after aquatic creatures on Torobatle that routinely beached themselves and ate cities in Torobatles past. There is evidence in the literature provided in the Collectors Edition of D2, I think there may be some in the Lore as well.

  • <I know the Leviathan is based off the Leviathans of his homeworld, but considering he once had an Ahamkara Bone in his arsenal, it's possible those things are one and the same. A small chance, but there's no other mythical creature from the Dreams of Worms that are named the Leviathan.>

  • Granted. However, consider the actions of the Leviathan in the Book of Sorrows and the actions of the leviathans on Torobatle. The Leviathan in the Fundament tried to protect life, insomuch as it did not actively seek to kill the krill people or other species of the Fundament; or, for that matter, the Worms themselves as far as we know. The Leviathans of Torobatle seem little more than massive beasts and no capability for spaceflight.

  • <And that is evidence of why they are NOT the same.>
