Ultimately, Bungie needs to implement a combination of better duplicate protection, and increased chances to get certain items as a player achieves more completions (i.e. like how the NF reward system is set up - greater chance to get item after each completion).

Just happened to see this post and thought I should inform you that the loot obtained from the chest following riven has nothing whatsoever to do with the location of the chest (or the chest selected). It is based off of a randomly generated code attached to the ethereal key itself. Therefore, it doesn't matter which chest you open or how many keys you have stacked; there is no way to increase your chances of getting the gun on any one run. 50 clears myself/38 viable chests and no 1k. I feel that pain too.

Interesting. Thank you for that info. Do you have a link or reference to where you learned that? I'd be interested to read more about it.

It's all on reddit. I've also done key stacking myself (2 5 stacks and 2 4 stacks). My clan saved up 3 or 4 keys each and opened all the chest during one raid. I kid you not, not one of us got the 1k. I've also been recently running to the same chest every time for the last 6 runs (to disprove that rumor) and no dice.

Got it. I went ahead and deleted that first portion of my post regarding it always being in 1 chest. I swear Bungie said something about that but I guess I'm not remembering it correctly. The last few times I did the raid, one on our team went to the same chest twice (one of the chests rumored to have granted 1k Voices most often) and he got, of course, 1k Voices the first time, and the second time he got a glittering key. I was sold on that rumor at that point lol.
