The golden age only lasted 80 years? That... Can't be right can it? That feels to short, how could humanity create and build all this stuff in only 80 year's?

  • The question you should be asking is how we know that the traveller extended human life to several hundred years. If golden age only lasted 80 years.

iPhones and Androids and computers and TVs and space exploration all happened recently. NASA has been around for about 60 years. The first programmable computer was created about 80 years ago. Smart phones were used in the 1990s to today’s time. iPhones came in 2007. TVs popped up around the 1930s. 1930 - 1938 - 1958 - 1990 - 2007. That’s about 80 years of advancement. In short: It’s entirely possible. Edit: Have you seen China’s building projects. Imagine 198 Chinas in the world.

  • So you're saying we found a way to flawlessly transplant a human mind into a robotic body, created glimmer which can transform into almost anything, created Siva which is glimmer on steroids, built Rasputin and all the warmind's including the bunkers they resided in, built arcologies within methane oceans capable of sustaining millions of people... All within 80 years

EXOs were created using Vex tech, humans didn't invent that, same with Warminds. All the AI stuff was not invented, it was found on planets that were habitable after the Traveler terraformed them, but BrayTech never told anyone. They found the ruins of whatever the Vex were before they became what they are now.

  • Still, to convert such incomprehensible technology into a day to day piece of iron... That takes time

It's impossible to tell just how incomprehensible it was. I mean, the only thing that's stopping us in the real world from doing things like in Destiny, tech wise, is energy conversion. All they would have to discover is a revolutionary way of converting matter to energy. That's pretty much our biggest obstacle today, even nuclear power is INCREDIBLY inefficient as most of the energy is wasted.

Yes. I am. You only have to create one thing and it’s a snowball all the way down: Glimmer or Siva. If glimmer can indeed turn into anything, you just create a large power source, cheap machines to get expensive things done effectively, everything is affordable, you can traverse space and bring back exotic foods and armor as well as colonize other planets (that solves the overcrowded population). You could sustain large populations for large amounts of time. Then you have an extinction event, like the Collapse, to destroy the civilizations. You could even create a Dyson Sphere to take energy from the Sun (not that they did that though).

  • But wouldn't it take years to build all these structures like the Clovis Bray resurch facility or the mindlab for the warmind's?

  • Of course it would. You have all the materials you need. The ships are efficient and much larger than ours meaning that they also have much more powerful rockets. Ship one thousand three by three meter dense cubes of glimmer to Mars. You’ll be done in no time. You’d only need a colony ship 6 times as longs or wide as our biggest ships. Looking at the Exodus Black, I’m sure one ship would easily be able to carry the cargo. Using todays calculations (and google) it would take about a year to actually get to Mars. In that time you could ship thousands of workers and supplies there. Now the build time. You have 10 thousand engineers and other staff. 10 years past. You start building. Let’s also say that the Clovis Bray facility is 400 sq. mi. That’d take around 50-60 years to build in our time. So about 60-70 years in total. Unless the Exodus ships were much faster than ours. Then it might take less time. Not much less though, unless their machines were also much more efficient than ours; which they might have been. Also, keep in mind that these engineers were the best of the best and possibly could’ve enhanced their bodies to double or triple their efficiency. Clovis Bray was a proficient group in mechanical testing, engineering, technical research, energy annex, and loading/unloading. Apparently. It could have taken a very long time to put Clovis Bray on Mars, but I just don’t think it would given our own technological advancements.
