You beat me to it! I was about to post exactly the same thing. I did already post something in the help section, but no reply yet, I think it's been lost in the mix of all the other issues. But yes, completely agree. I've tested it thoroughly too and agree with your findings. Just a single, weak explosion now (or 2 with Ace of spades). The only thing that made this exotic feel special was the x2 explosions with normal kinetics or x3 explosions with the Ace of spades. It's the only thing that made it viable in PVE and even PVP. It certainly was not overpowered by any means, just viable. Now it just feels very weak and a waste of an exotic. One dragonfly explosion isn't even guaranteed good trash mob clearance! I hope this is a bug, and Bungie will change it back to how it was pre update 2.1.0. There has never been any reference to it being broken, needing a change or needing to be "fixed". If it was deliberate, then I think Bungie should make reference to it so everyone knows what's going on with it. Or if they want to keep it at 1 explosion, it should be much more powerful than a normal dragonfly explosion to compensate (and you know...to look cool again!). * A disappointed warlock :-( *

There are plenty stronger exotics out there so in the state it was with the double explosion, like an enhanced firefly, it wasn't never too strong seeing that the explosions were fairly contained and suffered from damage falloff with distance. It was also a fairly situational exotic too, where if there were no grouped enemies you got no real benefit. But mainly, it was just DAMNED FUN! Getting that immediate feedback from precision kills was extremely rewarding and highly satisfying. It was an exotic that actually rewarded skilled gameplay. But now that highly satisfying explosion has been replaced with "meh, that was underwhelming". Another thing I noticed is that the explosion seems to be more delayed than previously. Most of the time if you kill an enemy, adjacent ones have more than enough time to move away now. Previously, the explosions only had a minor delay.

It was a pretty good exotic, somewhat situational, but always there, and definitely had a valuble place in most modes. But mainly it was just damn fun & rewarding a good shot, and satisfying to get precision kills and watch the fireworks display! As you mentioned, I also noticed the increased delay that now happens with the single explosion. Which just further makes the exotic even worse now lol. I really hope Bungie change it back, because in its current state it feels incredibly weak and there are many other exotics that are much more viable now. If they don't change it back it will just not get used, and will fade away into exotic oblivion...and no one wants that!

  • Patch 2.x.x Fixed a bug where erotic perk on Chromatic Fire did actual damage to enemies. Item description was updated: Gelantin Transistor Precision kills with your Kinetic weapon create a tickling sparkle in the element of your equipped subclass.
