So I recently started playing destiny 2 in the forsaken update and now I'm attempting to get the exotic Sturm hand-cannon. I already have the Drang and the quest to get the Sturm is in my inventory. The problem is that I'm stuck on the part of the quest where I have to decrypt an exotic engram. I bought an engram from Xur, I got dropped an exotic in crucible, I got quest exotics awarded to me, I even restarted a new character to get the exotic from Zavala for doing the campaign but none of these counted toward the quest. This is clearly bugged right? or am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to get around this?

So I finally got this to finish. My theory I previously mentioned was right. The engrams for this quest, whether they are legendary or exotic, only count if they drop onto the floor from you killing something or opening a chest and you physically have to walk over it to pick it up. I can 100% confirm that this works. So once again, the engram has to be on the actual floor and you have to walk over it for it to count. I got my world-line zero catalyst to drop in an engram from the baron on the last forsaken mission and thats what counted as my exotic engram.

3 RepliesI am thinking it is bugged. So far I have tried decrypting normal legendary engrams, quest reward legendary engrams, vendor rank-up legendary engrams, Rahool-purchased engrams, and prime engrams, none of which progress the quest. Fated engram also failed to progress the exotic step. Hopefully we can get a fix on this.

1 ReplyI believe that the wording on the quest is a little behind reality. If you can, try buying a few of the legendary engrams from the Cryptarch (it's on his second page). The Bungie help accounts have said on this forum that it may progress you.
