The Darkness was the heart of the black garden. We killed it, but the entire story team was gone from bungie by that point. This lead them to scatter and make up a whole bunch of semi connected, throwaway storylines. Thank God for you dedicated masses that spackle together some form of coherent ideas, that they later use as their source material for future expansions.

It was stated over and over again that it was just a fragment of the darkness. Like a shard of the traveler.

That's the point I was making. That the darkness was that, not all the other things that they've kind of talked about since.

Edited by ForrestGrump: 8/26/2018 10:42:27 PMOoooh i thought you meant that was the entire entity lol. The darkness has always had that fleet of pyramid ships ever since the conception of the game, but im pretty sure that the ships are just something the darkness controls. Or they could be vessels like the travlers ball. Who -blam!-in knows anymore lol. Even bungie admitted they dont know what the darkness is yet.

Edited by w3rdblader: 8/26/2018 10:39:53 PMI can see where my comment could have lead to confusion. I saw it like the darkness was basically what the taken energy became. It would go into living, or dead, bodies and corrupt/power them. Basically how the darkness went into the bodies of the eschaton and imminent minds in the black garden. If you go back and look at them from D1, when the darkness possessed them, they gained a black aura that looks really similar to the taken aura.
