I just got the Wardcliff catalyst today. I’m rank 62 with Zavala and I have 220 additional tokens. Just curious to see how everyone else is being treated by RNG.
Edit: I realize that using Vanguard ranks as a gauge for this probably isn’t the most accurate option considering variables such as challenges granting additional tokens and the fact that many people did save up tokens from season 2, it was just to get a more general idea.
Edit #2: STRIKE CATALYSTS ARE: Wardcliff, Prometheus Lens, Coldheart, Riskrunner, and Merciless

Got all 5 a while back. People just can’t stand grinding more than 10 strikes a day. From my experience every 100 or so strikes is a catalyst
-
4 RepliesRanks mean absolutely nothing. I’m over 150 in rank. Doesn’t mean I’ve been grinding strikes for catalysts. I had over a 1000 tokens when they introduced EC into the game in season 3 so I easily ranked up without doing any strikes. I’ve received 1 catalyst from doing strikes. Rank means nothing. The drop rate makes hunting Gally in D1 look easy.

Not yet but i have high hopes that i might get one before forsaken. I wont likely get any but a guardian can dream.
-
Over rank 50 and nothing. Only play pvp when I have to and have all crucible related catalysts.
-
catalysts are the longest lootbox grind in the game really takes away a lot of the fun in the game due to their unnecessarily low drop rates
-
3 RepliesI have a better chance of Bigfoot riding a unicorn to my house to bring me a pot of gold he found under a rainbow.

I got the prometheus lens catalyst two days ago, way over 50 in Vanguard rank. never showed up in the reward feed either. had to check my collections to see if the strike guns had a catalyst that wasn't finished. I would recommend checking your collections to see if you got one that didn't show up in the reward feed.

Edited by Zanithos: 8/15/2018 3:45:52 AMNo, I am not over rank 50, but since I only have 4.5 levels to go, hopefully, by the end of this week, I will be. I haven't even seen a strike catalyst drop, nor do I know anyone that has one. I'm starting to think they don't even exist. 😑

2 RepliesI have 2. I’m Vanguard rank 90+. Wardcliffe was the most recent around a cpl weeks back. So definitely over 50 and Merciless I got early days, so under 50. Ties in with Bungie’s 50-50 gameplan I guess. Catalysts should have been “questified” from the beginning to obtain. Example: Raid specific catalysts should be tied to raid completions/raid specific encounters. Eg, Acrius catalyst should be a guaranteed drop on 5 normal completions/1 prestige completion. Strike specific catalysts should drop on 20/40/60/80 strikes with guaranteed dupe protection. I liked how they did the Faction rally catalysts. And the Whisper catalyst. Every other one though is hidden behind a shocking rngeesus who appears to have gone on a long sabbatical, probably trying to figure out if the earth is flat, round, or an endless string of elastic wrapped around a white coating with the words Titleist 1 written on it. Questifying would’ve made so much more sense and given players more stuff to do/chase. Just another bad decision in a long list of bad decisions by the devs.

Rank 61 - 1545 tokens in my bag. I have ZERO strike cats dropped. To be honest I lost motivation to even try to get them ages ago. I get the idea of a grind but asking players to keep playing the same strikes over and over, often literally the same strikes in a row, literally hundreds of times is just taking the mick. If the strikes were fun, maybe I'd be more inclined but they don't come close to some of the D1 strikes (that I did spend ages farming and enjoyed it!). I like Destiny and think there's massive potential but a lot of the time I really do wonder if Bungee just make decisions without any thought at all.

Edited by ghostx78x: 8/15/2018 9:06:03 AMI played the hell out of this game after Warmind and I got 1 strike catalyst and 1 crucible catalyst after the last update- nearly 2.5 months after Warmind dropped. So yeah, couldn’t care less at this point.
-
Just Prometheus Lens, still sucks though.
-
I got the wardcliff catalyst
-
Only Merciless. Really want a coldheart catalyst.
-
15 RepliesI may be beating a dead horse here, but ppl who say rng is broken, no kidding, does anyone remember grinding the vault of glass dozens of times if not more for the freakin vex mythoclast!? That’s what rng is about
-
Just got another one on my first NF for the night last night.
-
Got merciless and wardcliff I think. Up until the moments of triumph iId only done 10/15 strikes in total and some nightfall’s.
-
It takes a while and is disconcerting, but I have Risk Runner and Cold Heart. I think I ran strikes about 80-100 times since they were added.
-
I have gotten Riskrunner and then Wardcliff, both well before hitting Rank 50.
-
Rank 254 and got the risk runner and prometheus lens catalyst
-
Rank 74 with enough tokens for 54 more ranks. Got 3 of the 5. 2 of them in the last few weeks from strikes.
-
2 RepliesI recieved a sturm catalyst in a strike. Just last week. Yep i did.. Vanguard lvl 25 or something on that order.
-
Strikes aren’t fun so I quit doing them(d2 strikes)
-
I've found three since the update buffing their drop rate. Zero in the three months before that.
-
Rank 150 and not a single one. I think we will see a patch in the future. Almost feels bugged out to me. Like the fwc ship wouldn't drop if you got dead orbits first.
-
Just one, and I could be level 106 in Vanguard with all the tokens I’ve held onto
