Curious as to how many of you take the bus or a subway compared to driving or other modes of transportation. I took the bus all the time in Seattle even though I had a car. Was cheap, convenient, and I could read or play games while I someone drove me to my destination.
Feel free to share any crazy public transportation stories. I know they're out there...

I have never been in a subway, commuter train, city bus, or taxi, let alone uber. I drive everywhere or am driven to somewhere, which is exceptionally rare.

I used to work downtown in my area and had to take a bus due to being on a waiting list for a parking pass. These buses weren't like a typical city bus, though. They were like charter buses (two seats on each side of the aisle facing front). It wasn't too bad because I like to read but it took about an hour each way with the other stops and such. We ended up changing work locations about a week after I got my parking pass for downtown (such is my luck) so I drive to work now. I miss being able to finish books a lot faster but I like being able to sleep in a little later and being home sooner with the 20 min commute.

About a month ago my bike was in the shop and my trucks battery and belt took a dump on me. So for about a week and a half I would take the bus everywhere. It was pretty cool. Forced me to walk more and exercise a little bit. Plus anyone attending college with a valid student ID gets free rides. So I saved a little money which was rad.

Unless you count the shuttle to and from Red Rocks at least a decade.

The only time I've taken public transportation was during high school. I didn't have a vehicle yet and no one could drive me, so I took the city bus to and from school. It was fine in the morning, but the afternoon sucked. The bus schedule made it so that they showed up, like, two minutes after the final bell rang, and the school and bus stop were at opposite corners of an intersection, so most of the time the bus would arrive as the students were walking down the other street, but the driver wouldn't wait. So we'd end up waiting 30+ minutes in the mid-afternoon Arizona heat for the next bus. I also almost got hit by a car once trying to run across the intersection after the walk timer had already hit 0.
