"So, what's the plan?" Kourtney asked while the seven of us walked back to the Tower plaza. "Are we really going to Mercury?"
"This is strange," I declared. "I can't imagine us being that important..."
"You're a pessimist, aren't you?" Edward asked, while walking beside me.
"Statistically speaking, each Guardian raises humanity's chances of survival by eleven point zero zero zero eight percent... So, no you are not that important individually, but as a collective we are a force to be reckoned," Haxx added. Edward and I both shot him a look of annoyance; he shrugged his shoulders defensively.
"I agree. Osiris, or any of his disciples, wouldn't come to us for aid. This very well might be a Vex trap..." Dakota stated while having T.C. set coordinates for Mercury.
"And because it's Vex, we're going in full force?..." I asked sarcastically.
"Yes!" Dakota snapped while spinning around, a finger pointed right in my face. "I'll personally destroy any Vex bas**** that I face. Now, they're asking for me personally..."
I took a step back away from the simmering warlock. Everyone else remained silent and stared. Clearly, Dakota still maintained a hatred for the machines.
Several lights came around the Traveler and approached the Tower. We all watched as several ships started hovering above us. From them, four chrome plated titans transmatted and set up a small parameter. Then, a warlock in maroon robes, and adorned with a gold crown and wings, materialized before us. "Captain," the warlock said politely in a deep, proud voice.
"Your Highness," Dakota replied.
"King Ta'Chal, what brings you to the City?" Blake asked.
The warlock, Ta'Chal, willed his helmet off and scanned us over. "The current baroness of the House of Dunes claims that the Eliksni of other Houses are abandoning their banners are are going into hiding. Even the House of Dunes is on the verge of a schism..."
"That'd explain why it's been so quiet," Blake stated.
Ta'Chal nodded with agreement, then continued to speak. "I was hoping ARC could return to Tau'la and see if you could assist us in keeping the House together..."
"I think we should," Gale said to Edward. Haxx remained silent, but agreed.
Edward swallowed while turning to us. "I'm sorry King Ta'Chal, but we just--"
"We can handle it," Dakota said to Edward, interupting him in the process.
"Well..." Edward said after turning back to the squad of Guardians. "We'll be right behind you,"
"It would be greatly appreciated. Ariks, Dunes Kell is one of our greatest allies; we can't afford to lose her, or her House." With that said, Ta'Chal transmatted back into his lavish ship, and so did his four chromium guards. The five ships flew away with little noise and disappeared behind the Traveler.
"Well, our vacation to the City was short-lived..." Edward groaned while willing his white and blue combat gear on.
"Something doesn't seem right..." Gale said. "And everything was going so well, too..."
"I am beginning to believe there is more to this 'Age of Triumph' than what meets the eye..." Haxx added with his monotonous voice.
"Clearly," Monica replied as she appeared over Kourtney's shoulder.
"Well, Captain, good luck with Mercury..." Edward said before sending Kelly to prepare his ship. "Sorry we couldn't join you."
"Whatever you learn of the Fallen could help the Vanguard. This lack of activity is unusual..." Dakota replied. Edward informally saluted us, then he, Gale, and Haxx transmatted to their ships and set course for Tau'la, Africa.
"So, now what?..." I asked.
"We're still going to Mercury," Dakota declared.
"Ah," I said aloud. "I could use a good fight."
