It is a content drought compared to D1 Vanilla.
Very few people were max level at this time 3 years ago as there was only one activity to get you to max level.
We didn't all have every exotic because only a few activities gave out exotics.
We had to use guns to level them up and then get materials to upgrade those guns.
Right now there are many of us sitting at 305, with all exotics, no reason to do the Raid because it offers nothing of substance, no reason to do NFs because again nothing of substance.
If you don't think there's a content drought based on this model of the game, you're crazy.

Edited by SuperSirianRigel: 10/21/2017 4:08:57 AMA lot of people didn't like that stuff you mentioned about Destiny 1. A LOT. Bungie even said at the big Destiny 2 reveal they had that about 50% of players that had played Destiny 1 still hadn't completed a raid. 50%! Only a handful of months before Destiny 2's release! Trust me for some people all that farming and grinding was A BAD THING. So basically they geared Destiny 2 towards those players. Everything is easier for the casual, the person with no time, and the brand new player, to dive into and have fun with. They just didn't realize how much the hardcore players wouldn't like that. You can't please everyone.

I agree. You had to work to acquire enough materials and gain enough XP to unlock the nodes, and then apply the materials to fully upgrade each piece of armor or weapon. It made you be very picky on which items you kept or dismantled. Remember how hard it was to get weapons parts at the beginning of D1? It kept the grind alive for months until HoW arrived. With everything just given to you on a silver platter in D2 there is no reason to work for it or be too picky (no incredibly special perks on armor or weapons anyway). You can pretty much use whatever you want as soon as you get it. I remember the first G-horn I got - I had to run bounties and strikes on all 3 of my guardians all weekend just to unlock all the nodes on the rocket launcher to have it ready for the raid on reset. Where is that same drive in D2? The guns that drop are "good enough". No gun is a game changer and thus no real drive to grind or suffer (read Rat King and Legend of Acrius here) for them.
