Criticism and Feedback for Destiny 2

Bungie are claiming that they are listening to us, i hope this isn't just to mislead us or calm us down but an attempt to improve their game. To start things off, i absolutely love Destiny and Destiny 2, that being i do like one over the other currently and that is Destiny 1. Its mostly because it has 3 entire years of content behind it and i think thats all something we need to take into consideration before hating Destiny 2, Destiny 1 had an arguably worse endgame on launch than Destiny 2. This is all general criticism for the games and ways i think bungie can improve their game, its also a way for me to catalogue my criticism for the game. [u] [b] Strikes[/b] [/u] Restore Strikes to their former glory by adding in a heroic strike playlist with modifiers, strike scoring, unique loot and streaking(Strike Hordes) [b] Heroics [/b] Strikes were my cup of tea, i loved them if you check my character stats i have over 1000-2000 strikes attempted in Destiny 1 so i know why i loved them and what made them fun. Heroics were hard and somewhat challenging, not too hard for a casual but not a cakewalk for an experienced player. These can also be the supplement for those who want the classic nightfall back, make a weekly like the flash point that drops nightfall tier gear for doing heroic strikes. [b] Scoring [/b] Strike scoring made players not want to rush through the strike and complete it as fast as possible add some rewards to this which leads me into Strike hordes. Make the score of a strike affect the drop of loot, whether it be skeleton keys if you bring them back or the amount of reputation/tokens you get for completing a strike. [b] Strike Hordes[/b] Create unique looking and themed loot for the strikes like in Destiny 1. [b]Streaking[/b] Bring streaking back exactly as it was in Destiny 1 with strike hordes these do not need to increase exotic drop rates but could if you want to implement it. [b] Faction Rally Strike Rewards Possible Bug? [/b] From memory, completing a strike during the faction rally offered 6 tokens this is not enough. It can take anywhere between 10-20 minutes to complete a strike on average whilst a heroic event that can take 5-10 minutes to complete nets 8 tokens. Lets not even get into lost sectors which can get you 100 tokens every 20-30 minutes. [u][b] Crucible [/b][/u] [b] Playlists [/b] There are seriously only 2 playlists? I understand why, its to not split your play base and have dead playlists, you could fix this by simply adding more playlists with specific rewards that encourage players to play. You could even have the quickplay playlist include all of these playlists so people who want to choose a gamemode can do so and people who like random and different games like the system currently is can still do that. This would make all playlist populated and is definitely worth a try. [b] Maps [/b] I loved the bigger maps in year 1 of Destiny 1. Bastion, First Light and Sky shock are all definitely in my top 6 maps in the game, open big maps like those were fun and need to return to change up the gameplay only in the quickplay playlist as these maps wouldn't work in competitive. With the new tanks and such you could make some awesome crucible PvP gameplay with this and entice players to try crucible who would otherwise not play it. [u] [b] Weapon System [/b] [/u] [b] RNG Rolls [/b] RNG rolls added fun and excitement to each drop, people are getting bored of the game because when something drops you know what perks it has which feels bland. Destiny 1 near the end had some issues of being too rewarding but it went mostly unnoticed because random rolls kept the excitement of getting a drop. Destiny 2 is even more rewarding which has lead to nothing feeling special when it drops. RNG rolls add consistent excitement to the loot system. [b] PvP Balance [/b] Balance PvP and PvE separately, i know you want both these experiences to feel seamless and consistent but people get mad when one side loses something because of the other. This design philosophy hurts the game more than it helps it, you cannot please both sides at the same time with the same changes it just will not work. [b] Weapon Levelling [/b] I loved levelling up my weapons, it made you feel like you were improving your guns and that all of your gear was a symbol of your work. It was fun and neat it was even better in year 1 when there were no motes and you actually had to use your gear to upgrade it. [b] Elemental Primary Weapons [/b] Do not bring them back, kinetic weapons are fine how they are and elemental weapon are not needed at all with the energy weapon system. [u][b] Economy [/b] [/u] [b] Tokens [/b] Tokens break my immersion in all honestly and take me out of the gameplay experience just a little bit, not so much that it ruins my experience but in a game like Destiny which has an interesting world i honestly dislike tokens and prefer collecting materials like Helium Filaments in the first game. Tokens feel like a straight forward item that does not belong in the game, like a place holder for material exchange when it comes to factions. [b] Vendors [/b] If Destiny 1 at launch could be described as a sin it would have been "RNG Loot drops" I dislike the faction engrams and want to buy my weapons again. Its annoying when you are stressing out about not getting lucky during the faction rally to get the armour or weapon you want. This affects the base game to a lesser extent as you can get everything eventually but RNG engram drops add frustration in the mix. If you bring back RNG rolls make it so we can buy gear again so we don't worry about getting cool looking armour during an event without having to worry. [u][b] Website [/b][/u] [b] Website companion app [/b] I Have two monitors it has always been easier for me to move items or equip armour in the middle of a game. People shouldn't have to use third party apps in order to access their inventory on a PC [b] Better Customer support [/b] I lost my bungie account 3 months ago today, i could not recover it through the recovery method it did not work, it annoys me that no matter how much noise i attempted to make in order to resolve this i got no help at all. I've accepted the loss of my account but you guys are a big company and should be able to have a support line on your website with people that can help resolve issues like mine. If you read this far then you have my thanks this took a while type up, i will add to this as time goes on

  • Agreed. But please dont compare vanilla d1 to vanilla d2. D2 should only be compared to endgame d1, by that time they knew what worked and they knew what didnt. And of course d2 [i]base[/i] game was better than d1... in ways.

    • [u][b] Iron Banner [/b] [/u] Finally got around to iron banner and one thing i dislike is that the gear does not feel unique, the hand cannon and pulse rifle for example are just bland re skins of Better Devils and Nightshade. I miss when iron banner would come around and we would have awesome guns like Finnala's peril or Nirwens Mercy which looked awesome and stood out from the rest of the guns. They nailed armour for the most part, it looks unique and stands out unlike the weapons.

    • I can completely agree with all of these! Great ideas! Especially the strikes and larger maps. But distant shore will always be my all time favorite because of the best Exotic ever: The Tractor Cannon.
