Ego, emotion, religion, sexuality, blind-hate aside, is Destiny a good game ?
Is it a game that will go down in the history books like GTA, Halo, Dark Souls, Need for Speed, (Some) CoDs, FIFA, and any other popular good game?
Personally, I believe it will. I have 1500+ spent on this game alone, the last time I reached even 1000 hours in a game was GTA IV (and that was only because I had Mods lol) but yeah, I loved what Destiny has become and hope for it to prosper in the future.

graphics/artstyle: pretty cool and quite a new universe. although storytelling was very odd in d1 because you had to read most of the lore on cards that you found playing the game but could not be viewed ingame. controls: smoothest console fps controls hands down. gameplay: still wondering why so few fps games include looting and levelling. its just so much fun running around with friends killing mobs with spacemagic and all those abilities and getting loot. just seeing multiple colours of loot pop up (even if the loot turns out to be poopy) amazes me. pvp: a nice option that sadly grew more important than the pve content over time in d1. i hope d2 makes that better. all in all: yes. for me destiny is something special. i have a lot of issues with bungies decisionmaking most of the time but destiny's core gameplay is what im looking for. a fps coop with tons of loot and activities.

I think D2 will tell. For me, a guy who hasn't played a game that totally absorbed since final fantasy 10, and took a break for like 15-20 years thanks to work (ok... I played most of fallout 4 not that long ago, and a few games like tekken and soulcaliber took up a lot of free time back in college haha); this game will already been remembered forever. I've spent way too much time on this game. Grind or not, I think it's been a lot of fun. Few things will rival mythoclaust dropping, and the rng love/hate. That was fun. Hoping for more memories in the future.

Hell no, but I still love it

A true Epic in every sense of the word for the video game world. Huge endeavor, and Bungie is a pioneer of. I want to see where this game goes into it's audacious 2024 timeline
-
Yup, I enjoyed it. The only game I've ever played more was World of Warcraft.
-
It was below average before TTK, then it went to average, and thanks to the playerbase that doesn't go around the forums, it's above average. It's not an 10/10, but it rests around a 7 or 8 by the end. I mean I enjoy the -blam!- out of it despite its flaws but... those flaws still stand.
-
It would have been better without PvP.
-
It was an enjoyable game, and that makes it good in my mind. However, it has allot of flaws.
-
Is it good? Yes Is it great? Not quite Suffers from a lack of genuine content, and the social tools are utterly abysmal. Took them two years just to put your clan roster ingame. It has far too many flaws and too much ignored potential to be considered a great game.

2 RepliesHonest question, why are you on the forums if you dont like destiny? (Im talking about the destiny players who post hate threads, not you)
-
2 RepliesMight go down in history as the biggest hyped disappointment ever.

1 ReplyITS FREAKING AMAZING!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Edited by dnrobs: 8/16/2017 10:35:05 AMThe content was mostly below average but the drops made up for it. Dlc's with 4 or 5 missions and a strike you ran through in an hour, but the glorious raids.

It's a tough question to answer when there is so many intangibles to what makes people love it. The way I'm going to look at it, its that it's a game that's better than the sum of its parts. On the surface it's an fps, with admittedly some of the best fps mechanics on the market. But by anybodies standards, aside from the actual combat, it's an incredibly shallow fps, with every mission and strike playing out essentially the same way, defend against 3 waves of enemies, travel to another part, rinse and repeat, you know the drill. Graphics are below average now, but it's 3 years old so doesn't count( though D2 is only a very minor improvement). P2P has been an issue since day one, likewise lack of artistic direction. I've always felt that the whole amalgamation of mmorpg fps always felt more like confusion than cohesion, but that's a personal feeling. The intangibles are what make destiny great. On the sum of its parts, not so much.

I wouldn't say it would go in history like that, if it did it would be for various reasons, some not good. But it has a chance.

Edited by D34N0000: 8/16/2017 11:16:44 AMIs it a good game yes. Is it a great game not for me no. The more popular a game doesn't make it great, even some of the games you listed aren't the best of their genre. But they are the most casual friendly, hence their popularity. That's what destiny is it's a casuals jack of all trade game. Will always sell well but if you're looking an in depth loot game, rpg, fps what ever. There will probably be a game out there that does it better. It is pretty cool though, raid were fun as hell.

Edited by bill_westie: 8/16/2017 10:32:18 AMDestiny is a great game plagued by awful decisions. The gameplay mechanics are better then any other FPS I have ever played. The movement feels good, the weapons feel good also the locations, enemies, strikes and raids are amazing. I never wanted to play PvP until Destiny. The problems is that with each update they made things worse by trying to make them better. Sidearms, icebreaker, ammo economy, matchmaking (I still don't know if it is cbmm or sbmm). Metas (Thorn, 1k Stare, Matador 64). The meta they finished with Palindrome and Icebreaker / wormwood is almost as bad as as the shotgun meta (camping around corners) and sniper meta (camping across maps). Even now when D1 is coming to a close, removing Trials and Iron Banner. In a game so ruled by RNG would it have been so hard to have these rotated randomly. Unfortunately D2 doesn't seem any different. Removed some players favourite game modes, double primaries, small maps, small teams and bullet sponge enemies. I can see the reasoning but D2 should be better than D1 and based on the Beta it isn't. Even though D2 is just around the corner and with all D1 problems I will still come back to D1 (as long as there are players to play against) as at the moment it is still the best FPS around. I also have my D2 preorders safely in my pocket and will definitely be giving D2 a good go. Happy hunting guys.

It is now that Trials is dead.
Honest Question, Is Destiny a good game?
Yes.

The really enjoyable thing about Destiny was experiencing it change. Throughout its life it has changed quite a bit and playing through all that live was truely exciting. What's so peculiar about it is how it plays now. It's a super fun game still, one of my favorites, but the real Destiny was playing through updates and patches, watching and experiencing the game evolve.
-
Over 200 dollars in a game gave me over 90 days. I may not have loved ALL of my time spent. But there are definitely moments that I consider amazing, like my first raid. Ironically, despite having no social tools in the game for raids or endgame content, it's the most social game I've played. I love Destiny, and I am hyped for D2.
-
I would say it's a good game. Just lacked a good storyline

2 RepliesDestiny is like that favorite movie you've seen 100 times and always stop to watch when it's on TV. It may not be a "great" movie, have the best acting, or even a collection of awards, but it's a fun watch and doesn't get old.
-
Is it fun? Yeah. Is it stable? Yeah.

Edited by TeddyBundy: 8/16/2017 6:36:33 AMThere are three things that makes this game stand out: 1. The Gun-/Gameplay (Controls) 2. The Social Aspect (Coop) 3. The Addiction (Loot) Everything else is bad to mediocre at best.
-
It is the potential to be. D2 will be fantastic. Something's I wish weren't being changed. But overall D1 is a good game with some bad decisions as far as sandbox updates and matchmaking settings, etc. a few changes/tweaks to that an it would be good again. Just to give it a quality of life.
