This is one of those cases where trusting Bungie to know what they're doing is our only real option. They have exhaustive stats available on how players actually played Destiny 1. That data is always going to be the thing they look at to help them make decisions about what kind of activities players actually choose to pursue, which doesn't always match up with what people say they want. You can see this all the time on the forum when people say they want one thing out of the game and yet their profile shows that they actually behave differently. Bungie has way more detailed information about how folks actually play than profiles show us. I'm sure they relied heavily on those stats to guide the choices they made about how much and what kind of content to create. They most likely chose a focus based on stats, business concerns, with direct player feedback a very distant third. Let's wait until the game is actually out and play it and then we'll see where the focus is, and they'll see how we really choose to play with it.

  • I get what you are saying but by going from gameplay stats alone is just setting you up for a fail... I say this as hypothetical argument that if there was more PVE activities available then I think those stats would be drastically different! I feel a lot of the PVP stats would be lower as a lot of them will be made up from activities such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, where as if they had more PVE events/activities (Timed or Not) then a lot of these PVP players would jump ship... Almost like they are playing PVP out of necessity as there is only so much you can do with PVE currently... Change that, give the people more PVE options and I guarantee there would be a far bigger PVE base...

True, if you only pay attention to data, you can get blindsided, especially when you're the one designing the data collection tools. Other hand, it's the only verifiable source of information they have about what most of their players really want to see more of. All the options are risky for them. But as it stands, Bungie says they're about to give us way more pve activities. We'll see if it's true, and they'll see the stats on how we react. They've underestimated how fast their players will burn through content before, and it's a mistake they may well make again. I hope not.

  • Yeah valid points! I just feel they are marching forward in the wrong direction, but then again the new lost sectors activities sounds awesome so I am stuck in two minds! Guess we'll just need to wait and see...
