"See that mountain out in the distance? You can go there..."
RIP early Destiny expectations.

Sadly, that isn't the quote. But hey, if it fits your narrative, more power to you.
-
You're right, I was paraphrasing. I think the actual quote from the promo is, "All that stuff, if you ran out there, it's all playable terrain," while panning over a vista of mountains. If that's just my narrative, what's the truth?
-
The truth is "playable terrain". That means it's real, rendered geometry. It's not just a skybox, like most games. I believe the quote I'm thinking of uses the word, "could". As in, you "could" go there. It's real geometry, hinting that it might be used in the future. Apparently, they decided not to use it, which is no real surprise.

He said "I could go over there right now but we don't have enough time" in the original video
-
You want a never ending world in a video game?
-
Oh, don't get me wrong. What Destiny does, I think it does pretty well. I am still playing it off and on in its third year. I just know that it's not quite what they told us it was going to be. If I wanted infinite play space, there's always "No Man's Sky" because that is the one thing that game does well.
-
, there's always "No Man's Sky" because that is the only thing that game does well.
Fixed it for you.

I feel ya buddy, our expectations died on day 1 :( On the up side, we have the code to get there, it's just installed and locked on our disc's, waiting for the cash cow choo choo train to pass by!

Edited by Heavy3PO: 12/22/2016 5:35:59 AMNah, with Destiny 2 coming in less than a year, I think they might just have a big count down clock above the door to Cozmo's office that's keeping track of when they will turn off the Destiny 1 servers.

Lying from the get-go 😢
