You are almost 400 with 2 characters at the first reset after the light boost. Although I don't agree with them limiting faction packages you can do any content in the game at 390. Trials and the Raid are by far the best way to get max light gear, wins 5 and 7 the 2 rewards in the Lighthouse plus the random rewards throughout. The hard Raid gives us 3 loot caches and 4 boss drops. Someone already pointed out Destiny is not designed for solo players so they should work harder for that max light if it is their goal

That's kinda my point though. It's still easy AF to get to max light, all limiting factions did is make me play shit I'd rather not (Trials/Crucible). Why can't I ever just play Destiny how I want to play it instead of having Bungie dictate what I can do?

  • You can play what you want it would just take a little longer. If you play everything it is quicker shouldn't that be how it works?

  • Not true. If I want to do bounties and patrols, I can't progress. And no, you shouldn't always be forced to play everything. The specific gear from places should be the incentive to run, not chasing LL

  • I only do Shaxx bounty at this point, as none of the gear is relevant from factions anymore. Unless I'm chasing a particular drop at this point, their decision just saves me the trouble of wasting my time now. I hate that they made them irrelevant, as I would go out of my way to get the bounties done on my characters. Once my characters are all 400, which isn't that far at this point, I will really have nothing but the raid and trials left, which is sad as both can get very boring if you just spam them all the time.

I've stopped doing daily bounties now as post 390 light it’s pointless to do them. What they have done is effectively remove an incentive for people to log on every day and play Destiny, smart move there Bungie.

  • Yep, just the Shaxx weekly can go up to 400 (I believe the vanguard weeklies can too). Other than that, there is really nothing left to log in for..... (Unless you can raid or enjoy crucible, then you still have things left to do))

  • Yes you can progress doing patrols and bounties, only through exotic drops but it could happen. Archon's Forge is technically on patrol.

  • AF caps out at 385 except for ghost/Artifact/Class item. Figured I'd point that out

  • I hit 400 with 2 characters and haven't done the hard raid, only played one Trials card to game 6. Just figured I would point that out.

  • And that has what to do with Archons Forge? I was just clearing up the Forges' light maximum. Either way, if you got to 400 without doing the raid, congratulations. 😁👍

  • I used the forge for the class items, ghost and artifacts. Everyone knows what the forge provides, you seemed like you were trying to discredit my arguement. My arguement was that factions stopping at 390 is irrelevant and you still do not need to do group activities to hit 400.

  •
I used the forge for the class items, ghost and artifacts.
Right, my post said that those were the only things that went above 385.
Everyone knows what the forge provides, you seemed like you were trying to discredit my arguement.
You were informing that the forge can help you level up, I was just clarifying just what it stops at, nothing more.
My arguement was that factions stopping at 390 is irrelevant and you still do not need to do group activities to hit 400.
I understand what you've been saying. I personally find that the factions stopping at 390 is kind of garbage, but I also think it's more of a balancing issue with rep boosters being purchasable by Eververse to keep people from complaining about pay to advance to maximum light. I could be off on this thought, but that's just the only reasoning I can think of to hold rep packages at 10 below max. to be honest though, every avenue to get max light is technically a group activity, even if you are solo queuing.

  • Sorry, it's hard to tell intent over the net. You are mostly correct about the solo queuing, you can still solo Nightfalls. The argument should be based on matchmade vs non-matchmade maybe.

  • Lol, that's some impressive stretching

  • I was stretching a bit but it is true. It would take forever to get there. I guess my biggest arguement is if there are to many avenues it's to easy for players that do every activity to get there. (Etheric Light) I like that they made Nightfalls an avenue and took factions away, but that's just me. Again at 390 you can do every activity in the game.
I like that they made Nightfalls an avenue and took factions away, but that's just me.
I guarantee you no one who likes to do bounties and rank factions would ever wish they'd take away nightfalls. And it doesn't really matter that you don't need to be beyond 390 unless you're raiding hard mode because once Bungie decided to give out endgame light for other non-hard mode activities, they removed that significance.

  • Factions should have never been an avenue, just another mistake they needed to remedy. If factions took longer to rank up or they limited packages it would be fine. Us day one players could buy enough heavy to buy our way to max light every update if factions were an avenue. You should have to play the game to advance.

  • But again, what's the difference from saving exotic engrams?

  • Bungie should have time stamped those too, but it's far easier to have strange coins saved up than exotic engrams. Regardless I literally just hit 400 with my hunter, have not done one boss fight in the hard Raid and only did one Trials card last week which ended before game seven. If we had done all the end game we usually do all my characters would have been 400. It was still easy to hit without Raids and Trials.
