So, where does everybody's allegiance lie?
And less od a lore question, more speculative; if there was a campaign, how do you think it'd work, and whatdo you think the plot would be?

Bad guys: Reaper, Junkrat, Widowmaker, Roadhog. Questionable morals (neither good or bad, necessarily): Hanzo, Symmetra, Zarya. And hopefully, the Overwatch movie would be about the recall and return of the Overwatch team. They'll probably end up fighting against rogue Omnics and their God programs, with Reaper and Talon as a sort of side-venture or secondary antagonist. Maybe Talon would even be forced to work with Overwatch to defeat the god programs and preserve themselves. I have no idea though!
-
So within the good/bad/neutral are there organization? I mean, Overwatch obviously, but you also mentioned a Talon?
-
Talon is a terrorist group that Overwatch used to lead counter-ops against. They still exist, even after the fall of Overwatch. Reaper and Widowmaker work for them. Junkrat and Roadhog work for themselves. D.Va works for the South Korean Military. Zarya works for the Russian military. Symmetra works for the Vishkar corporation, and Lucio is a globetrotting musician. Unless I forgot anyone, everyone else is either working as a vigilante with strong morals or trying to bring back Overwatch. If you want more details about a specific character, let me know.

Symmetra catches my attention, as well as Vishkar.

Edited by Lethenza: 10/14/2016 11:13:23 PMVishkar Corporation is an organization that specializes in reforming slums into hard-light utopia's. Their architects (people like Symmetra) bend light to create matter. Unfortunately, the way they go about global reform usually involves things like corporate espionage (Symmetra herself struggles internally with the morals of these things). To make matters worse, they've been known to make slaves out of local residents when building these new cities. Cue Lucio, who rose to prominence as a freedom fighter when Vishkar tried to reform the Favelas in Brazil. He stole their audio suppression tech and led a revolution against them. As a result, you can hear rivalry between Lucio and Symmetra in game.
-
Is there anymore lore on this light tech? Sounds fascinating!
-
Blizzard has taken a sort of "show, don't tell" approach to fleshing out the hardlight tech's lore. From in game and comics, we know it can be used to create anything from bridges to shield to small laser turrets. I think Symmetra's robotic arm has something to do with how she's able to manipulate light, but that's just speculation.
-
I've actually done a really similar thing in this attempt a super hero story I wrote. The plot revolved around making living beings out of light was considered illegal, and immoral, but that's what the main character was, and so everybody tried to kill them. Unfortunately, I scrapped it, because it wasn't a super hero story in any sense of the genre. ._. Well that and because the main characters were based off of Disney's Elsa & Repunzel, and I'd prefer to avoid copyright. ^-^' Hm.. What caused Overwatch's fall?
-
Interesting! And the short answer is infighting and allegations of international law breaking. Here's the long answer: When Overwatch formed, Jack Morrison (Soldier: 76) was put in charge of main combat operations, and Ana Amari was his designated second in command. Gabriel Reyes (Reaper), the original strike team's leader, was ignored in this process, and put in charge of Blackwatch, Overwatch's black ops unit. After several years, when Overwatch's influence began to wane, Blackwatch was revealed to the public, and a series of allegations were leveled against the organization (murder, coercion, blackmail, international espionage). After a decade of investigation, a fight supposedly broke out within Overwatch, the two main adversaries being Gabriel and Jack. Neither survived officially, but both still roam the world under different names.
-
Thanks. Normally I'd be more secretive on my non-copyrighted material, but as I said, I scrapped it. :p One thing I thought was cool about it was just how big of a sin it was to create these "Constructs". Not only were the antagonists completely hypocritical in that they used their own constructs to fight them, but also that they essentially set off a series of planetary "Halo rings", that more or less destroyed their own civilization. I see.. So Reaper is kind of the main antagonist of Overwatch, then? Speaking of which, didn't he not only officially die, but actually die, but brought back to life by Mercy? Which begs the question; why'd she do that?
-
Reaper's cells are decaying and regenerating at a hyper-increased rate. This is thought to be from a botched attempt to save his life, and Reaper apparently blames Mercy. The reason Mercy would've tried to rescue Reyes is because she hates death. Her parents were taken by war, which is why she became a front-lines medic and the medical head of Overwatch. Reyes worked for Overwatch, so she would've worked with him. Reyes's personal war against Morrison wouldn't have been something she would've known about, so she regarded him as a friend and tried to save him even when he seemingly turned against Overwatch.
-
I see. Well, that's all the questions I can think of, right now, thanks. ^-^
-
No problem, and thanks for sharing about your story. Sounded interesting.
-
Yeah, as I said I dropped it. If you're interested I could tell you more about it, though I don't have anything in narrative. ^-^
-
Well it was just interesting to me because I also write and trash stories of mine lol.
-
I don't trash all my stories, thankfully. Most of the ones I do trash sort pf turned out like Destiny; great idea, horrible execution. :p
-
I know Bastion wouldn't be in it. Unless they were fighting in the forests of Germany.
