There have been some improvements throughout TTK, no one can deny that. I think what perpetuates the anti-Bungie sentiment is the fact that they have lied to us on multiple occasions (which I can list if anyone insists....). Which is bad communication. What then divides the community among themselves is that you have people who deny any lies ever happened or act like "hey, it was over a year ago, who cares guys". For people who say the latter, I need to be your friend in real life, that way I can lie to you over and over again and not lose your friendship or trust and I can just take advantage of you over and over again. Go ahead and get "WELCOME" tattooed on your back too so I have a place to wipe my feet too. I would also argue that some of the things Bungie did change over the course of the last year were smaller things compared to larger issues people wanted done. So, I'm hesitant to praise Bungie for making some obvious changes that needed to be made with the lies and ignoring other major issues at the same time. Also, the nerfs. Dear God the nerfs! So many nerfs that no one asked for or even if they did were stupid AF to begin with. Here is a case of listening when they shouldn't have.

  • So this is the root of the problem..."They lied to us" You've likened this to a real life scenario like a relationship that has broken your trust and Bungie continues to abuse that relationship. I have to tell you, you aren't the only one who has said similar things here. Some even stopped playing all together and boycott. Its a very deep personal reaction that people often say when they leave someone they care behind or are in an abusive relationship. When someone stays it's because they have either found peace and resolution with those who lied to them and can move ahead or likes the abuse. Or worse, too weak to leave Speaking for myself, if I felt this strongly that I was being ignored and lied to over and over and over again...I'd just move on.

  • You seem like a cool chick, but wow, that was some Freudian-esque nonsense. If a person is having the same visceral reaction to a video game developer lying as they would a lying spouse, then that person has issues more serious than trust problems. Bungie has lied many times. I don't believe the things they say until words become actions. I still enjoy their game. I could enjoy it more if they didn't do certain things. It's not at all like being lied to by a loved one. Not even a little bit.

  • If you feel you are being constantly lied to, why are you interested in this game anymore. Its a simple question.

  • I don't feel like I'm being CONSTANTLY lied to. They've reneged on enough that I no longer take them at their word. But here are a few reasons I still play. Games are $60. Not cheap. Most aren't worth the money. I can play this passively enough to keep me entertained. I can completely sympathize when issues affect people and not me and still say something. I think this game could be really -blam!-ing awesome. I'm almost 35 years old and buying tons of video games isn't appealing to me. I'm very comfortable playing this game. I'm thick skinned enough to not let Bungie's bullshit affect my life. I'll pay money for things I like but don't love. I keep thinking Bungie will pull their head out of their ass. I'm sure there are more reasons. There's this false belief that people must be at least happy with a product in order to stick around. I'm content and hoping for more.

I didn't equate them lying to us as being analogous to a spouse lying to the other spouse and breaking some relationship. I also acknowledge that some positive changes have been made. However A lie is a lie is a lie. It doesn't matter the scenario. There are no alternate definitions of a lie. I still play the game because I enjoy it with friends. I never have said anyone should boycott nor said I would. That has nothing to do with how weak someone is or isn't. What bothers me is how some want to literally say "ah, that was a long time ago, who cares". That's not really how things work I'm afraid. Or when people want to act like there was never a lie in the first place and that anyone who utters the word "lie" in relation to Bungie is some kook. I just want people to snap out of wonderland and see the world for what it is when it comes to this game and its state which includes all the ugly things that come with it.

  • Pretty much what Boomer already said but I would add this: The fundamental issue we have is your use of "feel". Saying "if you feel..." is incorrect. There is no "I felt we were lied to". We WERE lied to on multiple occasions. I did not say it is constant as if there is some perpetual string of lies that will never end. We were however lied to on multiple occasions. Fact. There is no "feeling of being lied to". You WERE lied to. We all were. Associating "feel" with that to me denotes denial of said lie or totally ignoring it. I don't say that offensively, just how I am reading it. I buy the game because despite the lies that happened, the game still has good gun play (nerfs aside) and unique gear and above all I like to play with my friends that I have met here as we genuinely have fun together. Again, this isn't analogous to a bad human interpersonal relationship. I'm even going to preorder simply because I know I'm going to buy it anyway so I may as well get the crap that comes with preordering. So again, never called for boycott or threatened to leave. However, I at least am willing to call a lie a lie and recognize that all is not what it's cracked up to be in wonderland sometimes.

  • I'd also argue that many of the "positive changes" were quality of life fixes that should have been implemented much earlier on and not at the drop of TTK.
