• Leveling is much easier with several avenues to reach max.
• An actual story, new PVP maps and an entirely new area to explore. A Raid
• Tons of new quest lines and bounties.
• You can equip any weapon at the tower to show off your weapon. Small but cool.

• Ghost shells have a purpose now. Both with stats and function. Remember trying to get the mats for the sword quest? Ghost shell was your best friend.
• Your stats intellect/strength/Disc are more easily viewed on the menu. Cool downs are now better displayed for the best load out.
• Doubled vault space for weapons and armor!!!!!
• Kiosks that hold all some of our collections without taking away from our vault storage!!!!!
• Faction rep can be gained both by Vanguard and Crucible
• No more cap on marks. And they are shared between all characters.
• More room to hold bounties.
• Gunsmith ranking and rep for special weapons (sells weapons materials)
• 1 To 1 infusion
• Emotes
• New armor choices
• CHROMA
• Bringing back year 1 guns
• An entirely new space to explore
• Arena to grind
• New POE modes
• SRL
• New Sparrows
• New exotics
• A NEW SUPER!
• Mayhem!!!!!!!
• RIFT!!
• COZMO
• Bungie TWITCH
That’s just off the top of my head. Some of you may not have asked for any of that, but some did.
What I would like to see improved.
• Optional MM for all. The removal of MM on strikes.
• Quadruple Vault space that I can organize.
• Armor sets linked
• SRL event monthly
• Permanently add Mayhem to playlist
• 6 man patrol
• Character Transmorg
• Interaction with NPC’s
• New PVP game modes that don’t require massive sweat that can be played for fun such as Grifball.
• FORGE
• BIG TEAM MAPS
• Large areas of exploration
• Awesome RAID weapons. NO ELEMENTAL PRIMARIES
• More RPG elements
• More in depth story with ongoing quest lines to release further story.
• FIX THE LAG in PVP
• And PVE and PVP should be treated separately
• Monthly Bungie Podcast with member Q and A
• Monthly updates on ongoing bugs
• Twitter feed added to forums
I’m sure I can think of more good and bad areas that need to improve. But we have seen improvement with bug fixes and patches and additional features and services. More effort on Bungies part to address game breaking things like Firefly crashing etc.. Balance is always in the eye of the beholder. But to say it’s all bad and nothing is improved is a gross misrepresentation of the history. The release of some of the detail's in The Rise of Iron looks to address some of the issues.
And finally. I want Bungie to build their vision so I can enjoy it. If they added half of what I would like to see, I’d be happy. I am hopeful this game will constantly improve and at some point exceed my own expectations. They still have the best gun play and movement in it's class and the fun playing with friends is unmatched.

Edited by baystrike: 8/12/2016 5:30:37 PM(Part 2 of my response)
• Optional MM for all. The removal of MM on strikes. • Quadruple Vault space that I can organize. • Armor sets linked • SRL event monthly • Permanently add Mayhem to playlist
• indifferent on the first part, as people are jerks. ABSOLUTELY NOT on the second part. I'm sorry but this just is flat out hypocritical. You want MM for all, but then not for Strikes? Strikes are easy enough that you can ignore idiots/or trolls ( unless on Echo Chamber Strike, but as an Xbox player you don't have that one yet, I believe.) • dunno if extra space is necessary ( I find myself full 90% of the time, but it's mainly for infusions and what ifs that I never use in the first place), but Absolutely agree with organization tools. They could really make that extremely detailed. • for Set bonuses? It's a fine idea, I would never care about it, as I mix and match gear to get looks I like ( especially on my huntress. Her gear needs to reflect who she is, and not looking like she's a plucked bird with all the awful feather motifs and inappropriate looking gear with Poe). • for those that care about the event, absolutely. • lol, mayhem is love, mayhem is life.
• 6 man patrol • Character Transmorg • Interaction with NPC’s • New PVP game modes that don’t require massive sweat that can be played for fun such as Grifball. • FORGE • BIG TEAM MAPS • Large areas of exploration
• yes, providing there's actually something on a patrol that's worth doing, sort of like a mini warfare campaign like with ESO's pvp campaign. Then we'd really feel like we were actually beating back the Darkness. • Not entirely necessary, but for those that will take advantage of it, sure thing. • Absolutely. NPCS are static and one dimensional right now. • When they stop focusing on kills in the game modes as being the only real thing, then that will be fun. One f the reasons why I like Zone Control so much as the kills mean ZERO to the physical score, but I'm an OBJ player, so the bias is strong here. • do you mean a crafting system by Forge? Cause I'd be down for that. • hated combined Arms, so pretty sure it'll be the same here, but more options are always welcome in the game. • one of the original destiny selling points. I'd love to be able to explore entire planets and not a sliver of it.
• Awesome RAID weapons. NO ELEMENTAL PRIMARIES • More RPG elements • More in depth story with ongoing quest lines to release further story. • FIX THE LAG in PVP • And PVE and PVP should be treated separately • Monthly Bungie Podcast with member Q and A • Monthly updates on ongoing bugs • Twitter feed added to forums
before I get into the next part, be aware that I'm probably going to go on a complete and utter rant on the second part of this next point. Consider yourself warned. • Awesome Raid weapons (that do NOT have a random perk changed) absolutely. Now then with that said. I will now get to the ELEMENTAL Primaries part. First and foremost, I ABSOLUTELY DONT AGREE with you on this point. As someone who frequents the forums all the time, I've seen every excuse under the sun at this point for both for and against this debate. You yourself, RWG literally just posted something recently about Fatebringer, and I will mainly be using that as a basis in this. Now if I remember correctly, you stated that it was your favorite gun, and it was highly effective in the Arcburn modifier, however near useless in the other two burn scenarios (feel free to correct me, btw), and it forced you into using something you did not like. Let me speak plainly here. While yes it was not as effective is the other two burn types (in them it's no better than just using any gun you currently use as a pve weapon, as its treated as kinetic except against arc shields), but it had a distinct advantage in the Arcburn modifier, which is what it SHOULD be like. You could use that Fatebringer in every scenario, just like HJ if today. It was just advantageous in one scenario. That's it. You were never forced to change up your favorite weapon, as you could have easily had your special and heavy cover the type advantage as they currently do. The thing is though you CHOSE to change it, so you would have the advantage with a primary as well. Now by doing so, you felt shoehorned into a setup, which was never the actual case. You just wanted to take full advantage of making something easy to do by matching up the primary element with the modifier (ironically enough, despite all, did show diversity in loadouts, as opposed to now.) when it was in effect. What if there was no burn? Sounds like you used Fatebringer, which by the way is an excellent pve handcannon and I'll give a hint here, because of the beneficial perks of outlaw and firefly, NOT BECAUSE OF IT BEING ARC . Pretty sure if you just removed the ARC, you would still see the usage numbers exactly the same as they were due to that. But I'm not here to convince anyone on anything. Just pointing out flaws in the logic. Anyway Rant over. Back to the rest of the topic. • Extra RPG elements would be great, though they would have to emphasize and embrace that part of its identity, and Destiny still seems to have an identity crisis here cause Bungie. • Yes please • Sadly I don't think that's possible with the way they have their pvp matchmaking algorithm setup. But it got way worse when they moved from connection based back in Dec. D2 hopefully? • Absolutely. Should never have been treated the same to begin with especially with the way they balance things • last three points are on communication with the community needing to be more, and I absolute couldn't agree more.

Thank you for your comments. Some of it I agree with. Some I don't. I don't think Destiny is ever going to be what I thought it was going to be, Halo meets Mass Effect or Skyrim. I've accepted that it's just a shooter. It's not a mmo or rpg. Any addition to that I will enjoy, but what I really enjoy is the movement and I still think it's the best shooter with a little magic added out there. That leaves what what we have, a shooter that for some can't even play. These are game breaking issues that need to be focused on. And as a PVE gamer who really only plays IB and the occasional pvp just so I can play with more then 3 friends at a time, its frustrating as hell. This is why I keep asking for game modes more then 3 can play that don't require massive sweat fests, red bars and lag fests to enjoy. I could get into a 3 page rant on PVP alone. But I'm not going to. Now about MM. I said Optional for all and the removal of forced MM in Strikes. I want to do those alone sometimes. Elemental weapons. Unless they are going to create harder Nightfalls that benefit those armor breaking weapon attributes, I see no need to carry more of those additional weapons in my vault. I know people want them, and I do understand. But I just don't see any reason now. PVE is too watered down. If in D2 they decide to make events or raids much more difficult and that would matter, then ok, I can get behind it. But I'd rather they just make all weapons change which burn you want like the Sasanoo does so I only have 1 weapon I like that can be optional.

Halo meets Mass Effect meets Skyrim... I think that really was the dream and who knows, maybe D2 will be closer or maybe like you said, all Destiny will be is a shooter, but to me there is no other game where I feel the same running around and experiencing the grace and fluidity we feel on these classes of characters. Is there anything better than gliding around on a Titan in a beautiful dance with our enemies? There's so much that could still be better, but I know that what exists is still the most fun we have with 5 other friends gaming right now.

(Part One of my response)
• Improved App functions to manage inventory and character.
• QoL. Nothing to really do with the physical game except for gear swaps that were already on PC related aps.
• Leveling is much easier with several avenues to reach max.
• Agreed. Though skeptical it will go back to base TTK and not April/June update version. I loved having the avenues to get to max as a solo runner, and not having to rely on LFG or my Sporadic Clan to do Raids for it.
• An actual story, new PVP maps and an entirely new area to explore. A Raid • Tons of new quest lines and bounties.
• Don't really think there was any real story really there except in the opening cinematic, but it's a small step in the right direction. • Did thoroughly enjoy all the quests after the story, however.
• You can equip any weapon at the tower to show off your weapon. Small but cool. • You can use marks or glimmer to buy materials instead of running around wasting time opening chests. Reduced Grind • Ghost shells have a purpose now. Both with stats and function. Remember trying to get the mats for the sword quest? Ghost shell was your best friend.
• Not necessary in the least. • Are you talking about weapon parts here? Cause there wouldn't have been an issue had they not messed with the amount you receive back. If not, planetary materials were there well before the TTK. • Ghost shells? I've never used them for anything other than light. I have a keen scout Hunter for a reason 😝, and I've done patrols so many times, I know the spawn locations and routes to go. Ghost really had no real function (for me anyway)
• Your stats intellect/strength/Disc are more easily viewed on the menu. Cool downs are now better displayed for the best load out. • Doubled vault space for weapons and armor!!!!! • Kiosks that hold all some of our collections without taking away from our vault storage!!!!!
• I'm sure that the rates were adjusted from year one, however it was nice for them to at least show us the cooldown timer. • QoL, that should never be an issue in a loot based game in the first place, even after telling us it wasn't possible to do....... • Welcome change with the collections.
• Faction rep can be gained both by Vanguard and Crucible • No more cap on marks. And they are shared between all characters. • More room to hold bounties. • Gunsmith ranking and rep for special weapons (sells weapons materials)
• Wish the rep gains were increased, but it's a nice QoL change. • There is a 200 limit, and unless you are dismantling gear, a weekly cap as well. I'm pretty neutral on the shared thing, as it was done to increase the grind on players with multiple characters in the first place. • Welcome QoL, though I wish it were more. • Love the Gunsmith test weapons/ranking (except that crucible launcher.....). weapon mats were just to fix their own problem they themselves created and nothing more.
• 1 To 1 infusion • Emotes • New armor choices • CHROMA • Bringing back year 1 guns • An entirely new space to explore • Arena to grind • New POE modes
• Should have been that from TTK day one. Who knows whether that will go away. • Adding fine. For physical money no. Honestly should have been able to purchase them in game from a vendor that used in game currency (legend marks/glimmer)and NOT REAL CASH. Also no Emote wheel? Really? • New armors? Unless you are talking of just the Raid and Eververse sets, ZERO of the armor is new. • Cheap way to add some quick customization to gear, and not really that meaningful. • Key here is SELECTED LEGENDARIES and they are not the same as their original counterparts base wise, for the most part. • Can't argue with that even though I want to • Not new, just modified and equally boring as the first time it was there.
• SRL • New Sparrows • New exotics • A NEW SUPER! • Mayhem!!!!!!! • RIFT!! • COZMO • Bungie TWITCH
• boring and asked for since early year one. Honestly a bad cross of Jet Moto and Mario Kart • basically one or two new sparrows with color changes to make them seem like there's more than there really is. • loot is always good • three subclasses always welcome, even though I can't stand dying to one of them (Palpatine) • mayhem is fun, rift is not (ESP from a Solo standpoint) • wasn't Cozmo moved up at the end of year one? Not really too certain on that timeframe though. • when they actually do something with it, sure. When most of the changes are simple QoL ones, there really isn't a whole lot you can say positive about actual in game features from Year 2 that aren't QoL related.....
-
I've said this before, I think the 1st year of Destiny was a massive unrewarding grindfest. I spent way to much time in the tower swapping guns at my vault and too much time on patrol grinding for materials. Each update improved this experience. They need to add armor materials now and more vault space and much more...I'll leave it at that. So for me, much of these things I listed were better for me. I realize not everyone liked them.

Bump :3 People keep on saying that bungie is ruin there game on purpose, but really why would they do that. YOu make a lot of great points :3

Bump. Great stuff, RWG.

Edited by TheShadow: 8/10/2016 4:00:16 AMA lot of what you stated that Bungie has improved on is actually false. This is nothing personal... Vault space is a common thing in any loot based system. No one should have to ask for more space knowing what type a game this is. Most companies know this and provide it with no questions asked. it's called common sense. Adding new maps, nightfall's, strikes are a common thing in this game and always will be expected. The problem with that is. The game never expands so adding new things means remove things. leaving this game no further then it was. It causes things to be made irrelevant serving no purpose knowing there isn't enough content to keep gamers content. Or even enough to actually be removing things in the first place. What does Bungie do? Lets use old area's by giving it a new look and call that new area's to explore. I don't call that improving this game. Tons of quest lines? You mean running back words through content that you already don't over a 1000 times to complete a quest like black spindle that had no sense of exploration to acquire it? Hey guys, run of the side of a strike to do a quest that take 20 seconds to get to where you need to kill a butt load of enemies to acquire it. Using, hey we get to show off our weapons at the tower to where it serves no purpose other then for noobies? I would think day one gamers are sick of seeing a rotation timer on the vendors that never rotate to acquire new gear or whatever after 2 years. So far from reading most of what you stated. Most games have all of what you stated in the sense of adding things to a game and 10 times more. New gear? Umm, this is a loot based system and the concept is to acquire gear so Bungie is always going to add that. Not sure where you thought you were going with this. In fact, most games that acquire you to grind for gear add this with now questions asked. like vault space. Bringing back Y1, Is this a joke? Knowing Bungie puts out patch notes and update's gamers on what they adjusted on the weapons. It seems to me instead of using Ghorn as a marketing tool. They could of brought all Y1 one back a long time ago. But just like removing primary elemental, it was easy just to remove all y1 exotics just to resell them back to us. So in all Bungie lied and said they were game braking and now are selling them back one piece at a time as if they were never a problem? I think you better look at the over all knowing Y1 never needed to be removed at all They have a sand box for a reason.... Sorry, but you really went way beyond fishing on your reply on things that should of already been in this game. Here it is 2 years later and Bungie hasn't even come close to implanting half of what this game should of had from launch. Yet, games that are free can add everything that Bungie hasn't added to this game? This game is just a get me by, and that is how Bungie is treating it. There is literally no excuse for this game to be in it's current state after 8 years of working on this game if not more. Bungie makes million, and has a butt load of employees working on this game. But a company that doesn't make millions or have that man power and makes a game for free with everything gamers want, added content that actually expands the game, consistent updates and isn't afraid to share with their community on what they plan on doing with the game. That actually asked the community what they want and actually gives feedback on their replies? And Bungie is called a AAA gaming company? No, they have not improved this game. They sure knew how to stretch out Ttk for an entire year though
-
Why are you talking to me? Pretending to be interested in what I have to say after the rude comment you sent me in a private message? You and I are done..
-
It's not about you. It's about Bungie, and you are so wrong about them improving this game...
-
No...it's about you and I here. You crossed the line with me when I didnt with you. I would have totally listened and engaged but you chose to personally attack me in a pm. Don't engage me any more. I'm done

Edited by TheShadow: 8/10/2016 4:58:49 AMIt really doesn't matter what you think. This post is about Bungies game and if you don't like the truth then don't read. It's really that simple.

Watch out guys, this guy speaks the truth :3

Thank you. It actually keeps me free from guilt ;)

• "Improved App functions to manage inventory and character." - although its neat evolution. Id rather everyone have everything easily & readily accessible & IN GAME. I dont want to use my laptop, kill phone battery/run up data. • "Leveling is much easier with several avenues to reach max." - agree. after complaining about their ridiculous rng shit for about 2 years, they fixed it. But rest assured, the grind will be TURNT UP ROI release... • "An actual story, new PVP maps and an entirely new area to explore. A Raid • Tons of new quest lines and bounties." - I guess.. I would not call running around shooting things, holding x, & fighting a horde, a quest. Its the same thing for pretty much every mission. Dreadnaught & raid, awesome! Wish there was a little more to interact with on the Dreadnaught. Got stale fast like Court. & Yes, a game with a lot of pvp, should add maps, they were not doing us any favors there, our $$$ needs to go somewhere, not Destiny 2 either.. • "You can equip any weapon at the tower to show off your weapon. Small but cool." - I like it, but really do not care. Dont remember anyone asking for it either. • "You can use marks or glimmer to buy materials instead of running around wasting time opening chests. Reduced Grind" - I used to constantly make post about preventing them from doing this. Almost made patrol obsolete & completely boring for MOST. I made countless posts asking them not to do that, & to just make it to where natural deposits had 10-20 materials plus glimmer & consumables, to be ignored like most great posts. Would have been fun & kept patrol relevant. Wasn't this implemented before TTK?? What type of materials can you buy with glimmer? • "Ghost shells have a purpose now. Both with stats and function. Remember trying to get the mats for the sword quest? Ghost shell was your best friend." - Ghost shells have a purpose? I dont remember using a ghost for sword quest, been a while. But how did they help? Other than that, they are just some bullshit to increase the grind. Light level should not be attached to ghosts. • "Your stats intellect/strength/Disc are more easily viewed on the menu. Cool downs are now better displayed for the best load out." - Agreed • "Doubled vault space for weapons and armor!!!!!" - I wonder if Bungie would have ever increased our Vault if we did not make it a hot topic? I had to delete year 1 armor sets & The Supremacy because of lack of vault space. Should have been adequate since day 1.. Like Elder Scrolls or Dark Souls, virtually no Limit to what you can store, & how to organize, & that was on last gen... https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/122528556?sort=0&page=0 This is one of MANY posts made by MANY people. Bungie said it could never be done I believe 3 times, & they did it 3 times... I think they used the word impossible. LOL • "Kiosks that hold all some of our collections without taking away from our vault storage!!!!!" - Agreed, & thank goodness.... • "Faction rep can be gained both by Vanguard and Crucible" - Agreed • "No more cap on marks. And they are shared between all characters." - Isnt the cap 200? & arent we daily or weekly capped? Marks are ridiculous imo, we have enough currency.. • "More room to hold bounties." - Agreed. Lol. should have been that way since the get • "Gunsmith ranking and rep for special weapons (sells weapons materials)" - Agreed, why would a gun smith sell weapon materials? • "1 To 1 infusion" - forgot about etheric light? It was pretty much the same, but better. • "Emotes" - They were micro transactions...... Yeah, they are free in many other games. We did Bungie a favor by purchasing them. They made mad $$$. Said they were using it for this & that. Where did our money go? WE HAVE NO CLUE. Still no mutha-blam!-in' emote wheel. what a surprise. Probably close to 80-100 emotes, not emote wheel or a way to have several equipped. Forget all the post we made about being able set emotes on one of the 4 D-Pad directions. Tap one of the 4 D-pad buttons for selected emote, hold for consumable. • "New armor choices" - yes, we have plenty of re skinned armor. No favor to us in my opinion. DLC is supposed to have "content" like that by default. This isnt some indie game created by a not multi-million dollar company that has not been around for 3 decades • "CHROMA" - yeah, looks cool. Cant apply it to the armor I use of course... still have like 100 in my vault • "Bringing back year 1 guns" - they left? because all that good stuff is still in my vault. are you kidding? We paid for that content. & they control & manipulate how and when we can use it. I suppose you dont mind.. You say it like they did us a favor. LOL . Those year one guns, are not the same weapons the used to be, so... They really are just the same archetype & name, not the same guns. • "An entirely new space to explore" - Look up, you mentioned that already.... • "Arena to grind" - What is this? I must have missed some content. • "New POE modes" - What are these new modes? because all I see is revamped re skinned content • "SRL" - Did you know, because of the lack of repetitious content, we were asking for this on #feedback over a year before its release. WE the community made this happen. & It wasn't by patting Bungie on the back either. • "New Sparrows" - yes, new reskinned sparrows • "New exotics" - They are not doing us any favors. Thats the meat of their content, items... LOL • "A NEW SUPER!" - Yes, the three subclasses have been on disk since sep. 2014, & they unlocked it. LOL • "Mayhem!!!!!!!" • "RIFT!!" - Sorry, I refuse to give them praise for them FINALLY releasing fun game modes. Especially after we, the community, asked for game modes like mayhem & rift for A LONG TIME. pvp barely had any new/fresh content, they owed us something. Our money that we have been using on D1, has to be going to something, NOT D2. Their multi-billion dollar backers, Activision, can fund their future, just like they did for D1 • "COZMO" - WE MADE THAT HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY PEOPLE LIKE LOST SOLS. Because there was no communication with Bungie what so ever. Deej did not communicate at all, nor did he have answers, nor does he play destiny. Again, they are not doing us favors. This isnt some indie unknown company making some 25$ unknown game with mad bugs. This is Bungie/Activision. • "Bungie TWITCH" - LOL!? really seemed like you were fishing @ times. Love the optimism & support for Sols, but it seems like you were desperately fishing. & Last but not least, remember Gjallarhorn ??? Remember why they took it away? Forget their lies, lets be real. We melted bosses, completed skolas in under 2 minutes, melted mobs, & made everything our bitch. Why did they take it away? Because we were annihilating every single thing in out paths with that weapon. What did they do?? They took it away, to make the game more challenging & increase grind. That is why black hammer got nerfed and they turned it into an exotic Y2. & now they are shoving that nerfed garbage weapon down our throats every chance they get as a selling point!!! & that doesnt bother you???!!!?? Same thing with that gjallarsparrow reskinned bullshit, that wont do anything special. The artist & musicians are the real heroes of destiny, & they peeps who designed the gun play/verticality. We have been beta testing for them since Launch. The game isnt much different from the beta. Bungie didnt make all these changes because we been praising their bullshit & not speaking up. Non stop feedback & persistence pushed this evolution. We criticize because we care. Ill call them out on what in my opinion is bullshit, DOES NOT MEAN I DONT LIKE PLAYING. Dont get soft on us, fanboy. You had much fire, dont get soft...
-
They nerfed int/disc/str with TTK. Pre TTK, every point of those stats decreased the CD. With TTK, the CD only decreases in fixed tiers with certain point thresholds. I consider this to be much worse, than in Y1.
-
Great observation of improvements, RW.
-
• Bringing back year 1 guns
All my Y1 guns are still trapped in Y1. The ones in my vault? Still at LL 170. It would be AWESOME if this were actually true... In actuality, I get what your saying, but its insulting to force us to grind for stuff we already have sitting in the vault. If they could make etheric light to upgrade stuff in HoW to max light, I'm sure they could offer us something in PoE that would at least make our Y1 gear infuse-ready.
-
I understand that and I completely agree. I don't know if you remember this, but in year 1 and 2 I ranked up the same Gally 3 times. 3 TIMES! This has to be one of the most frustrating things about Destiny. I have some theories, but who cares. It's their game. And while I think they have not completely understood the attachment and time put in to get these things most of us still have, I don't think there is malice behind it either on Bungie's part. I'm prepared to walk through the next door with Bungie for D2 and see if any of that really even mattered any way. We'll see.
-
I think that I will stay away from RoI. If we can bring all of our gear into the next major release and they implement dedicated PvP servers, I might come back.
-
I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point because I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing. They knew we hated leaving our stuff behind when TDB launched, so when HoW came out....(insert famous Deej quote about never making us leave our gear behind). Then when TTK came out, they did a 180 degree reversal from bringing everything back with Etheric Light during HoW. It might not have been done with Malice, but as a Y1 player, it feels like I've been slapped in the face with a cinder block. All I have to show that I was there in Y1 is a vault full of weapons that I can't use, One MoT emblem from Y1, and a bunch of really sad/pathetic "exclusive gifts" for Y1 players such as the Ravensteel (not even as good as the raid sparrows or anything from SRL), the awkward "Be Brave" emblem, and Shader of the Old Guard, which I haven't found an armor set yet that looks good in it as it is more grey and beige than black. Meanwhile, Y2 players will have everything carried forward for them. I understand the irritation of having to rank up G-horn 3x, but at least you get the opportunity to do that. Anything legendary from that Era is stuck in that era, and as much as I would HATE to regrind to get them, we don't even have THAT as an option of last resort. Fatebringer, My beloved Timur's Lash, NITC, Radeghast's Fury that I spent 3 months rolling until I got a perfect Arc damage roll, etc. All of that is still trapped in Y1 with NO option to bring them forward. And everyone else saying "get over it." I'm already non-committal for RoI at this point. I need to see some serious changes with the way the Dev's handle the game before I'll buy it. I didn't buy into the game at a premium price to be treated like crap the way Bungie has treated all of us Y1 players.
-
We could go on and on about year one. You aren't saying anything really I disagree with. Have you gone back and played VOG? None of the weapons we have today does nearly as much damage as any of the year 1 weapons. Why is that? Why has Bungie decided to lower the damage for everything? Because that in my opinion in part is why we like year 1 weapons. As for the armor it was a huge giant pain to get VOG armor and rank it up. Separate Materials for each character. It barely dropped. Grinding for the materials to level it. That changed in HOW and TTK. So, they did make improvements on that process. But you and I will never probably know or be allowed to upgrade those powerful weapons and cool armor. But that doesn't mean there hasn't been improvements going forward. And that is what we have to try and measure this all with. Not just keep pointing backwards. I also think it's a good thing to wait if you have reservations. Nothing wrong with being cautious.

I never had a level 30 char before Crota, but the system gave me a reason to actually want to track public events and complete them so I could gain additional upgrade materials. Right now, there's literally no reason to do public events. As for the transition from Y1 to Y2, you are right generally, they have made vast improvements. But whether its thanks to PVP nerfs which effected PVE, or by design, there really isn't any end-game gear that excites you during TTK. The raid stuff is all sought after just for infusion value (except the chain gun). No exotics make a difference. No gun really reduces the grind, which is part of the reason why we want endgame loot to begin with: they reduce grind and create an incentive to grind endgame content repeatedly. Weapons like FB and B-Hammer were the kinds of weapons TTK sorely needs IMO. I think it's a mistake not to have weapons like them in TTK and I hope that this changes in RoI. But I seriously doubt it will.

I agree, the raid armor and guns were mediocre. But at least it dropped! VOG was torture getting a full set and up to level 30. And the Sleeper??? Fun. Swords???? Incredible fun. We just have to wait and see how it unfolds.

I wasn't thrilled about swords or the sleeper TBH. They were great tools to have in your arsenal, but they were so niche that I only used them situationally. I know Bungie hates it, but there is something to be said about having a loadout that you feel you can take ANYTHING on without changing. We had that in Y1, and even if it was that way back in Y1, I still changed my loadout far more often than I do now because there were so many good weapons back then. TTK feels like it has been nothing more than 1 Year + of Hung Jury + 1k stare + Chaingun. As far as raid gear quality vs. drop rate goes, I think the Crota raid was the best. If you were after a particular item, you knew which raid to target (normal vs. hard). And it was slightly more generous than VoG. I may be completely on my own here, but I'll take rarely occurring drops of much higher quality over having hundreds of mediocre items thrown at me. Quite frankly, I just want more moments like these in Destiny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yorxOLgk4Rc THESE are the kinds of moments that really helped make Y1 what it was. Sure, RNG was a stingy witch, but when she finally threw you a bone, it was a bone worth having and you jumped for joy over it.
