Separating them would completely wreck the game! Can you imagine having a gun with two different sets of stats? I think the problem is pvp should be secondary to all pve decisions, but at the moment it seems to be the other way around. Eg the recent ammo update for pvp has made things a lot worse in pve

  • But it completely undermines a core concept of the game and also, your muscle memory won't! Maybe the concept just doesn't work - but abandoning it is not the answer

  • Weapon/armor perks, I could see causing issues. Different ammo capacities and damage modifiers, I can't see a downside. With those, you would have a gun that works the same but has fewer shots and possibly deals damage differently to guardians than to the AI (but damage numbers are already different between the two, so it wouldn't be a large departure from the norm).

  • I think there can be a balance; take the PvE ammo nerd that you mentioned, they have shown they did this on purpose in the patch notes, where it states they reduced the ammo crucible heavy ammo boxes give in addition to the machine gun nerf. To put it simply, the could just have changed the value of ammo given by ammo boxes in PvP and left PvP alone. In addition, the can change how much a perk effects a guardian in PvP as oppose to a minion of the darkness (they have done this before, the touch of malice being the best example). They can even change how much damage a weapon does in PvP alone. The question I cannot answer is why they nerf the PvE experience.
