Compared to other loot based games the vault space is absolutely enormous.
Diablo series, torchlight, world of Warcraft, various d&d computer games, other numerous mmorpgs, borderlands series, and so on have an even more limited vault and storage system than this game, and have exponentially larger and more varied loot.
People call it a hoarder issue because it is. There is more than enough space to be able to use a different setup out of the vault every day for more months on end. When was the last time you actually even thought of doing that?
You are collecting crap you will never touch or use again after putting it in the vault. Why? What is the point of more vault space when all you are going to do is drop stuff in it and never touch it again?

This guy is a racist republican too probably. -blam!- you and power to the people!

Elder scrolls did it the best. Buy multiple houses with bottomless pit treasure chests , armor manikins , walls to put weapons on. If all that was full you could just dump all your shit on the floor and save the game and it would stay there as long as it was in your house.
-
Only a true hoarder needs multiple houses in a Elder Scrolls game.
-
In other words: hoarding. I bet you never touched more than 5% of those weapons again
-
Maybe not but a lot are hard to get or only seen it drop once. Like imgoo loop or grasp of Maloc. I know people that are still grinding to get those weapons. Hell I even run vault of glass and POE every once in a while still trying to get ice breaker I never got in year one.
-
all you had to do to get icebreaker was buy special legacy engrams when xur sold them.
-
I know ,I'd rather have it drop, feels like I earned it then. I rarely buy exotics from xur.
-
why waste all that time to get a nerfed and obselete weapon just to say you "earned it?" it isn't earned since it isn't a guaranteed drop.
-
As long as I'm enjoying the game, and having fun. I don't consider it a waste of time.
-
I have all the exotics across all classes and weapons, still have one of every old raid weapon, have a wide variety of weaponry and gear on my characters so I can max any combination of the three stats I want, including all the special strike drops, and I still have plenty of room in my vault for gear for infusion purposes. I don't need a dozen imago loops with different perks, Or 8 different pairs of faction boots that I will never use or wear. Just like I don't worry about holding onto the old raid armor because the stats on them are so low as to be unusable and therefore worthless, even in regular crucible because let's face it, the perks on them aren't geared towards pvp play and aren't relevant even in their original raids anymore because of the lack of stat boosts they now have.
-
Except we do use them. And to have multiple builds you do need that space. Arms for example. Sniper, shotgun, fusion, sidearm, auto, hand cannon, scout, and pulse. That's 8 per character right there not counting exotics, raid, or vanity gear unless you're lucky enough to get looks and perks in the same set.
-
That's 8 weapons in an available 20 space holding for one character, since you listed 4 primaries and 4 special weapons. Still plenty of room on the character itself for more weapons, plus 72 in the vault, plus another 40 on two other characters. The weapon variety is not that diverse to warrant more space. We are talking 30 primary spaces alone between character storage. I dare you to list 30 different primaries that you used in the last month. I'll wait.
-
But I'll take that challenge. Let me get home and I'll have a list easy I try to use a different weapon for every crucible match

And if you want to talk weapons just start from all exotics. With exotic shards no longer for purchase most people aren't dismantling them anymore with rebuying them costing shards.

Edited by Durandal: 3/3/2016 5:45:15 AMOk, misread on the arms, but the point still stands. Do you really have to have faster reload perk for all of those? When you can use only one at a time? Find the one or two that benefit you the most, and keep those. And I also noticed the lack of primary weapons used regularly the past month list you promised. Maybe you realized you are just hoarding junk and didn't want to own up to it? The exotic argument isn't one, I currently have a copy of every year 2 exotic armor and weapon in my inventories and vaults, along with all the year one exotics that haven't carried over. And even with having multiple setups for gear on each of my characters, as well as a large variety of weapons and elemental types, I still have room for 20 or so random weapons in the vault, and 30 or more armor pieces for infusion or storage. If I haven't used it in recent memory, it obviously isn't that useful, and can be gotten rid of without a second thought.

Take it out after a couple months and have a blast
