Hello LYPEJ. The reason you're being prompted to purchase The Taken King again is because it is not included in any currently existing digital upgrade promotion. The Dark Below and the House of Wolves are the only two expansions covered under this program, and will transfer from PS3 > PS4, but the Taken King will not. It will require purchasing on your new console. More information can be found in Bungie's official article:

This is bad ,i believe more players will migrate to ps4 soon and Bungie is not offering any reasonable or free upgrade . This is very unfriendly approach towards customers from Bungie .

If you buy a tshirt in large and add a couple pounds, you don't get the XL for free. If you buy a tshirt in XL and drop a few pounds, you don't get the L for free. I know that doesn't really say what you want it to but when you actually look at the scenario at its base business plan, it's spot on. Bungie did EVERYONE a huge bonus with the upgrade program the first year. And many people took advantage of it. But it was a bonus. The way I see it. I've spent 65$ on destiny at launch, expansion pass for 35$ at launch and TTK for 40 on 360 and 40 on xbone with the collectors edition for 20. Grand total: 200$ for 2 full years of content and gameplay. 3 of my friends buy a new game every month cause there is always something new coming out and they usually finish them in 30 days. New game 65$ x 24 (two full years of gameplay) = 1560$ Now let's say they trade in their games to gamestop at the max 30$ bringing their new game total to 35$ 35$ x 24 = 840$ And just for a laugh let's say they only bought games every other month and still got the 30$ trade in 35 x 12 = 420$ So the way I see it, even if you spent 200$ on destiny, if you enjoy the game, do it. Your still spending less than others.

I disagree, you are wrong about t-shirts (maybe you should change retailers)because majority of main apparel companies are customers friendly and more flexible. They will change your product depending on circumstances. When it comes to Bungie in relation to upgrades , they don't do them. Also comparing clothing with software is like comparing furniture with cars. Most of software developing companies are not just game oriented, they do upgrades constantly, even cross platform upgrades for reasonable price (mobile , android ,PC). Because for them what really matters is to make customers satisfied. Does it matter to you, Bungie ?

So you mean to tell me you can go and buy a shirt, wear it for a month or two and decide it doesn't fit and your retailer will exchange it for you. That's absurd. And it is a very useful analogy, and as I said in my post, it doesn't sound like it makes sense, but in a business platform it's spot on. As for platforms, "Playstation network" is their online service, not a platform. PS3 is a platform, PS4 is a platform. Destiny is NOT cross-platform (to put it in Playstation network terms) And let's be honest here. In the amount of time you've spent arguing this topic, you could have worked a full day and bought the ps4 TTK legendary edition for 30 or less and been playing already. And please. Name ONE major title that is cross platform that is not a proprietary IP.

Edited by FekkenEjit: 2/8/2016 7:49:41 PM1. Please tell me where you shop, as I've never been able to buy a product then a few months later exchange it for a smaller/bigger size free of charge. 2. Licencing is handled by Sony/Microsoft not Bungie. If they won't allow a free or discounted upgrade then there is nothing Bungie can do. You need to remember that you are not purchasing the software rather a licence to use the software in that particular system. 3. PS3 and PS4 are different platforms, in the same way PS2 and PS3 are entirely different. If not, then surely I should have got The Last Of Us, GTA 5, and Tomb Raider again for free when I upgraded. 4. You seem to be confusing platform ans service. PS4 is a platform, PSN is a service.

Edited by LYPEJ: 2/8/2016 9:40:29 PMtell me where you shop ...??? are you phishing? here and again you are playing with my words....are you changing subject ?

He's not phishing and he is definitely not twisting your words. You seem to think everyone that disagrees with you in this post is twisting your words around.
-
You did get free upgrades. TDB and HOW. Bungie was in fact one of the only companies that offered any upgrade incentive at all.
-
Really? because i didn't get any free upgrades at all .
-
You only have to re buy TTK not the other two because they are upgraded through the digital promotions.
-
I already bought TTK 39 pounds not even 2 moths ago for PS3 digital version from PSN and they were offering free switch to new gen console but i didn't know it will be limited till 15 january 2016 . Sorry i don't see valid reason to pay extra 25 pounds (while already paid around 90 pounds )just to play exactly the same game with better graphics and details on PS4 . I still hope Bungie will come with some reasonable offer for customers with similar problem .
-
If you don't see a valid reason to pay it then don't you don't have to. They will not. As they are not being unreasonable. By your argument every game I own on pc I should have the rights to play on any console it's also on because I've paid for it once. It's standard practise if you pay for the license for something on one platform you have to buy another license to use it on a different platform.
-
No i did't write that so please stop twisting my words and changing subject .
-
You said it's unreasonable to have to re buy TTK because you've paid for it on ps3. Me swapping out ps3 and ps4 for pc and any console isn't twisting your words or changing the subject. I'll say it again it is common practise for consumers to buy another license if they wish to use a piece of software on a different platform. So bungie are not being unreasonable.
-
You did and doing again because PS3 and PS4 are not different platforms while PC is.
-
Ps3 and ps4 are different platforms. The main problem you are having is thinking that they are the same.
-
Please post link you can prove your claim.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/sony-ps4-vs-ps3 Scroll down to cpu and ram.
-
Also you do realise the it's mainly the fact they are two different consoles that make them different platforms don't you.
-
NO .You are wrong. PS4 just got better hardware and new OS but PS3 and PS4 are under this same PLATFORM PSN .
-
You are mistaking their online service as their platform. Ever wondered why the idea of playing a game with both ps3 and ps4 gamers at the same time is called cross-platform play?
