Hey Z,
I think that the GameStop employee was a bit ignorant on the subject. From what I can gather, you would be interested in the Collector's edition, which is $79.99. The Legendary edition only comes with the game and all three DLCs.
However, I would hold off getting the Collector's Edition. The $20 pack will not be available until September 15, 2015.
I hope I helped clarify.

I was a bit suspicious in the store, but now I know that I was right, so thanks. By the way, does this collector's edition upgrade come with the pre-order content and the cayde-6 weapons pack as well? If so I may just cancel my preorder and get my money back. :/

Hey, So, more information has come out regarding these deals, and I just want to let you know that the Weapon pack is in fact a pre-order bonus. You can get it by pre-ordering any copy of The Taken King, whether that be the standalone version or any of the more expensive options.
-
Yeah, unfortunately you can't pre-order the standalone on 360 yet, if at all. Guess I'm gonna have to sit this one out... :(

Edited by Vysi: 7/16/2015 2:28:54 AMCayde-6's intel pack is part of the physical Collector's Edition. Are you sure you bought the Legendary Edition? The Legendary Edition only comes with the base game + DLCs for $60. The physical Collector's Edition comes with the game + DLCs, Cayde-6's intel pack of physical collector's items, and the collector's edition digital cosmetic items for $80

I've since checked up on it, and apparently, due to unclear wording on Bungie's part, I was misled into believing the physical collector's content existed in addition to an in-game weapons pack, similar to the vanguard weapons pack that came with pre-orders of the base game. I'll probably be going in the next couple days to be getting my money back. I'm a bit disappointed in bungie for allowing such unclear wording into their initial announcements. At least it's only 60 bucks that I can hopefully get back. That's not too bad I guess. :/

I'm not too sure what you mean by the, "Cayde-6 weapons pack." Are you referring to the digital content pack (which is the pack that gives you three emotes, three shaders, and three exotic class items)?

Edited by Zanithos: 7/16/2015 2:25:18 AMHonestly, I have no idea myself. I saw it listed somewhere as part of the pre-order bonus, but upon review, I can't find it anywhere. There's a physical Cayde-6 box thing that comes with all sorts of bits and bobs, but I remember there being something else metioned that was referred to as "access to Cayde-6's personal weapons cache in the tower" that has since disappeared. I'm honestly not sure if it existed in the first place, or if it was an error on bungie's part that has since been corrected.

Just as a follow-up, I'd like to link you to another post of a Bungie.net user with a similar concern. One of the replies is from a Bungie Mentor that confirms that the collectables will become available "later this year". If you didn't fully trust my word, you can trust his. Thanks man. I guess I'll go get my money back and wait then. I had no idea that there was literally no reason to pre-order.
-
No problem, glad I could help. You're right, there really is no reason to pre-order, it's just an option.
-
Thanks again man, hopefully you saved me 60 bucks lol. Best of luck in your destiny endeavors. :)

The only thing I can think of is the Vanguard Armory, which was a pre-order bonus that gave you access to some unique vanguard weapons at the start of the game. I doubt those would be of use to you, though. Unless you would like the Cayde-6 Intel Pack, I would just purchase the separate $20 DLC on the release of The Taken King. You will still be spending $60.00 if you add up the prices of TTK and the collectables, but you'll be saving $20 at the end of the day.

Yeah, after looking into it some more, it seems like that's what I'll be doing. It sucka that I had to find this out the hard way, and I'm probably not the only one. Hopefully the next DLC after The Taken King (which I hope is still a while off), will have a clearer announcement. :/
