Mics- As important?

No Mic = No good

99

Don't care about the mic so long as they can hear us

489

Experience is the only thing that maters.

127

Must have a Mic and MUST communicate.

149

Speaking only for myself, often when I play I am in a position where I am unable to speak (people sleeping/working/etc.). So I always message people to let them know that while I can't speak, I am experienced and can hear them to follow any directions as needed. Plus I try to communicate via dancing (Yes) and waving (No). For me, most raiders don't seem to mind my silence, provided I don't do anything noobish, which I think is fair. But those who don't even give me a chance to prove anything is frustrating. It usually means a longer search for a team. Thoughts?

  • Done crota before and the sword bearer had no mic, one of the easiest runs tbh

  • The proof is in the pudding my granddad used to say. Give the no-mics a chance and if there good keep em if not kick em simples, just don't assume that they are awful because they don't have or like using a mic. There are people out there who are shy, who are deaf, who are not confident enough to speak to or with new people and people who just want to play for the fun of playing the list is endless. As long as the no-mic knows what he or she is doing what's the problem, I play with no-mics all the time it don't bother me. I think someone should start a destiny raiding clan with the name of No-Mics were mics are banned that would be fun me thinks. GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE!.

Just tell them to dance if they know what their doing at this point mics shouldn't a must. Personally I don't care if you don't have one I'll still raid with you. Nobody says anything unless they're telling me to shut up cause I'm trying to start a conversation

    • As long as u shoot shit, don't die repeatedly and enjoy urself idgaf. People piss me off and give me headaches anyway so I usually take my headset off in raids. It's easy enough to do both raids

      • I ran sword today on Crota HM without a mic. As long as I can hear my teammates I'm fine.

        • I am fine if they do not have a mic, but I prefer it because then we can socialize and joke around if we are a casual team. Prevent everything from falling quiet or being to strict and such.

I'm somewhat introverted, so too much social interaction exhausts me. I prefer being micless as I usually play better and feel more relaxed... That and I don't get guys constantly all over me. I usually follow instructions easily and I'm naturally a good gamer. No one has had a problem with me not talking. I speak with skill. Anyone who is strictly mics only is an idiot. They'd take an idiot who talks than a skilled team mate who prefers to not use a mic and just listen.

        • I've stopped using my mic in raids because people kick me when they hear my voice and think I'm 12(squeaker)....now just use my headset to make sure I can hear them, if they speak....

          • My mic has been broken for a few weeks now. I find I can manage without it. I'll be getting a new one soon but for now I seem to be ok.

Did CE HARD yesterday only two words were spoken in the entire match 1 I'm sword bearer and 2 fire. Other than that none of us spoke to each other. So communication is important but if the whole fireteam knows what they are doing it's not needed

            • I just don't get why people can't unmute their mic and whisper something at integral parts of the raid. Communication is key and makes for a much faster raid.

              • As long as you are good and can follow directions not having a mic can be worked around, but having a mic is preferable.

Mic is very important otherwise they don't know what they can do next I'm not talking about experience players. Just causal players

My roommates play in a band and practice constantly at home. So i use my headset minimally that way i dont annoy the living shit out of everyone in the party. I usually communicate by dance and just unmute myself if i need to say something important. I have had a few raids where nobody even needed to talk and we only wiped like twice throughout the entire raid. Just get really into killing stuff and then realize that everyone actually knows what to do and no one has said a word because no one needed to...those moments are beautiful...

                  • I prefer a mic but there've been times when I've had issues with my mic & just went along. I knew what to do & when to do so there wasn't an issue. As a matter of fact, I raided VoG yesterday with a guy who couldn't talk. We beat it from start to finish with a 5 man team.

                  • I'm in between don't care as long as they can hear and must communicate. Honestly it pisses me off when they can't communicate, go buy a 15$ pair of headphones from Marshalls and plug it in, communication is key to victory and I want you to talk. That being said if I know the person and raid with them and know they can handle their own but their mic broke and they're saving for a headset or whatever I'd absolutely forgive that.

                  • That Saturday a couple weeks back when voice chat wasn't working, my pug took down Crota first try. Came very close to a wipe a couple of times. It was actually really exciting. That being said, doing it with someone who wasn't experienced would have been pretty much impossible.

                    • I don't like raiding with people that don't have mics but for crota if you are just a ledge monkey then a mic isn't needed.

                      • Raiding without a mic is a dick move. You can not be my swordbearer if you don't have a mic. It isn't necessary for all instances but it is always helpful.
