This is the first Destiny title ;) Joking aside, Bungie already explained that instead of weapon placements, competitive multiplayer will have ammo crates/ammo drops. Same idea are placing weapons on the map, just different execution. Ammo rarity will balance weapons. I doesn't matter how powerful your gun is if you can't find ammo for it and the opposing team is wise enough to not let you get to it.
