OP doesn't even know what masochism is -_______________________-
English
-
the tendency to derive pleasure, esp. sexual gratification, from one's own pain or humiliation.
So suffering in life when something sets you back and causes you harm means I don't understand the definition? Can you not read? Because I left out the sexual gratification on purpose(because of the bolded part in the quote) and focused on the other side of it where it is merely a pleasurable feeling or renewing reaction. Sexual gratification is one of the most common reactions with it, I shouldn't have needed to point that out.

Masochists aren't what you describe in the OP.
-
Maybe not explicitly, but I would hope people can actually still understand the point. If it causes you harm, you get pleasure from it, and you get driven to get that pleasure again even though for anyone else it would be pain pure and simple and would be avoided. That type of trait is an interesting reaction and I can then point to the section about the researcher that theorized that Masochists are a special type of human that is capable of surviving in tougher environments. I suppose I'll update the OP though...

You do realize that masochists don't like all and any kind of pain?
-
practitioners of sadomasochism usually seek out sexual gratification from these acts, but often seek out other forms of pleasure as well.
So now that the point that sexual pleasure isn't the only kind has been pointed out. Can you actually say that it's a flat rule for all Masochists that none of them derive any types of pleasure from any and all types of pain?
