I use Skullcandy SLYR. It is wired, can be plugged directly into the ps4 usb. Really good sound quality, good mixer (yes I know you don't want one, but it is on it anyways), and has great audio noise canceling for background audio. Mix that with the ps4 ability to only play chat through the headset, and you are good to go. Retails around $80 USD
Edit: the cable is approx 10 feet.... or close to it

Nope they always cut out

I like them yes. They aren't as loud as turtle beach, but the quality is good.

Edited by m00ninite: 1/22/2015 4:20:13 PMHmm not bad. Another wire running to the PS4 rather than just the controller wouldn't be preferred but I will look into these, thanks. Going to try the Turtle Beach P4C's today since they are cheap and worst case I'll return them and bite the bullet on ordering something more substantial. Although my concern with these would still be that you're wearing a full set of headphones so despite only having the chat in my ears, the TV would be pretty muffled I feel. Although with a mix maybe just having game sound super low in the headphones in conjunction with the muffled TV sound could work, idk.

I mentioned the mixer really because it works. There is a 4way control that lets you change master volume and chat/game mix separately. Tv sound doesn't muffle much at all due to design I think. They are extremely comfortable. My only complaint is the cord, but rather have continuous power like you, and they don't go loud enough for me to go deaf..... I use them for movies and music as well.

I have amazing audio headphones for music already (V-Moda Crossfade LP2) so no real need to try to double dip. I agree on the constant power from wired though! Either way like I said, I'm going to try the mono set today and if that doesn't work out then maybe I'll start really considering ones that I'll have to balance a mix. Thank you for the suggestion though.
