are you on 360 or xbox one? if you're on 360 i would be more than happy to take you through anything in this game, with the exception of hard crota. i will actually explain it all thoroughly and show you the absolute easiest way to do each portion of the raid, minus any cheesing whatsoever. crota's raid that is, I only go into the vault to try to get that jelly you have. as soon as i have it i'm never going in there again.

  • yeah, that sucks. i do have one piece of advice though, ESPECIALLY because of the time restraints you mentioned. When you get into a group, just quickly inspect the gear of everyone in the group. if you see a bunch of underleveled weapons, and there's more than one or so 30's, i would just leave. i have probably about as many completions as anyone, and probably about as many fails as anyone too. it wasn't until this hard raid that i actually had a pre assigned team. i mention the amount of successes and failures because underleveled players and weapons was the cause in 95% of the cases. if you see a group that is just so so in the weapon department but they're leveled properly, you can probably get through the whole raid up until crota. that is the only part that requires maxed ghorns and hunger of crotas. i would try to find a group that's got the weapons to complete the whole thing right from the start, but sometimes that isn't an option at the time. so, in short, inspect and assess how far it will go right away. you will be able to tell within minutes of the crota fight if it is going to happen with that group. don't be afraid to bail

  • That's a lot of good advice! You really think it's fine to bail after 5 or 10 minutes if the team isn't making headway? I always feel like I've committed to the cause. But that's always been a fault of mine. The underleveled thing is especially obvious today since a lot of the 32s are all out doing the hard raid, which has left the normal raid a barren field of 30's and 31's (like myself, not hating) I wonder if that's a permanent thing (32s all moving on to hard and forgetting normal), and also if I'd have had better luck if i'd been more leveled two months ago and been able to do this when more 32s were in random groups...

  • yeah, you definitely would have had a lot more success before hard dropped. it's not necessarily leaving if it doesn't happen in a few minutes. it's being aware whether or not it's even possible or likely. if there are a few random legendary rocket launchers and some random guy with a nearly maxed truth or something, it's probably not going to happen. just keep your eyes out for ghorns and hunger of crotas that are all maxed. if people don't have heavy ammo synths, it's also not going to happen. you don't HAVE to have a 32, but it covers a LOT of error when a 32 takes the sword in normal. a lot of times people think their weapons are good enough because or their claimed skill. but the problem with this equation is that it's a matter of mathematics. there are only 6 people in a team. one takes the sword, so that's 5. at least one is on boomers, but 2 is best, so that takes you down to 3. Those 3 have around 6 rockets a piece max. You need to make him kneel twice per sword, and it takes at least 2 rockets to make him kneel. When you throw in non ghorns and not maxed launchers the number of rockets increases. it becomes possible wihtout meeting the criteria, but the likelihood goes way down as coordination needs to be next to flawless. you typically won't find that degree of execution without a very long explanation and understanding between everyone. this isn't going to happen with randoms. if they have maxed ghorns and hunger of crotas, it makes up for that mess
