As long as everyone is on the same page(knows what to do) and communicates it is relatively easy. I did VOG and our biggest problem was not killing oracles fast enough or having issues with portal glitches or just glitches in general.
I watched one person take crota down to a sliver of health by himself. Never really done CE completely have been invited to the last fight once.
As long as everyone is on the same page(knows what to do) and communicates
I agree. And I try. Up to, and including, telling my team that I'm eager to learn and follow directions, but I'll need them because I'm a raid noob. Hopefully I came off in the forum post as pretty up front and willing... I try to do the same "live". I'm unsure how well it's received (maybe it makes people weary and nervous when someone says they'll need instructions? nobody has ever said anything about it to me directly)
I watched one person take crota down to a sliver of health by himself
Nice! I'm not that good! :) Maybe some day.

It's super important to find people who are patient. You can be inexperienced in the raid and find a really badass group of players. However, if no one is really willing to help you or chastise you for screwing up, then you're not going to have any fun. Find people who are willing to teach and show you the ropes. Some of the best people are the ones who have already run the raid for the week, but are still willing to do it again for the sake of teaching. You'll get more out of it, and probably have a more enjoyable experience overall.
