Exotic for exotic, legendary for legendary, ascendant for ascendant, etc.
okay bungie?
You want us to grind.
FINE!
Go add a broker/vendor in tower that charges a glimmer commission fee depending on the quality of the item.
All traded weapons or armor progress will reset.
And trade vouchers will only drop rarely and randomly. (Praise RNG-sus!)
Only one item can be traded per voucher from both parties.
For those of you who don't know what a voucher is, it is a pass that allows you to redeem a transaction
Let me emphasize "rare" because a lot of people still don't understand this concept and insist that people will exploit this system.
It would be a waste of your time to invest in playing destiny for an opportunity to get a trading voucher let alone a gallarhorn if you ever get one, just to sell it.
Would it be fair if I have two gallahorns and want to give my friend one? I feel it is, Especially when the trade vouchers would drop as exclusively as an exotic bounty. To limit exploitation, add in a bunch of factors that would make trading a pain in the ass; that the only way you could do it is for BOTH parties to have a voucher, Have a ton of glimmer. Basically you could only trade once in a blue moon and the opportunity would only present itself to the most dedicated players.
As for the real world currency for a gallahorn. Any one who seriously plays the game long enough for a gallahorn to drop is not likely to want to get rid of it for actual money. Especially when trading vouchers themselves are as scarce as an exotic. Maybe more scarce.
Also, I have two gallarhorns and it is ridiculous that some people who play longer than i and still dont; And I can't just give it away to one of my friends for say his... hard light? With the amount of time I've invested into the game I would not throw away an opportunity ( to trade my Gjallarhorn for say another exotic I really want) for real world currency. Not a likely senario, I'm sure it could happen though. For an large amount of money.
But people aren't likely to pay a high value for a gallahorn with the chance that xur will have it the next week. Also there are millions of people playing this game that have gallarhorn. How high could the price even get?
Idk... let's hear some creative regulating to prevent real world trading.

I'll bump this

what about a simple like for like trade. exotic for an exotic or legendary ofr legendary real trading where currency is involved just means those with larger wallets can buy their way through and i dont support it.
-
please no, trading would result into real money sellers and getting spammed by bots

1 ReplyLol 10k? That won't be enough for our lovely bungie to even think about.. If only you know how many pple play this game

Even with this RNG voucher idea, there will always be a community of people willing to pay money to get what they want. Another equally sized group of people would be willing to grind for them to make real world money. No matter what you do, if trading becomes a mechanic in this game, people will pay money to strangers to get what they want. Think about it, if someone offered you 50 bucks for that extra Gjallahorn in your inventory via PayPal or some shit, wouldn't you trade it ASAP? And I'm sure there's at least one person who's put 500+ hours into this game and still hasn't gotten one, who would gladly 50 bucks to get one. Trading would break this game, and it would ruin that great feeling you get when that Ghorn finally drops. (just happened last week for me, been playing since September). Every exotic you have, you should be able to remember where and when you got it, even if it was from xur you have that moment when you realized he sold what you wanted. I'd love to give my buddy the extra Gjallahorn but I'd rather dismantle it in front of him to rub it in because I know he has something that I want. Everybody has something to hold over each other unless your the ~5-8% (guesstimate) of the community that has every exotic, or someone who hasn't played that much yet and doesn't have any exotics. That's what RNG is. If you add trading, game items and currency become a real world commodity that can be bought or sold in an instant and takes the novelty and rarity out of the exotics themselves. Even if you use RNG vouchers, other people might receive more than others, and others might not have anyone to trade with. Most would turn to a third party website that sells exotics through groups of players that have grinded enough to have stacks of vouchers and and a collection of sought after exotic/legendary gear. We're not going to trade in the tower unless you like getting a bunch of messages from randoms in the tower at once. There's no way to easily communicate what you want to trade or when you want to trade. We already turn to third party websites for LFG in raids. It would only be a small matter of time before the percentage of players that own every exotic rises to 20-30%, which is why bungie will not include this mechanic. Because it would probably hurt them in their "10 year plan". TL;DR trading would break the game; trading with real world currency for in game items is inevitable; more people would have every exotic in the game

Trading will ruin the game.

2 RepliesNobody wants trading. Trading will ruin this game. Fact

Its sweet of you to want to make it fair to everyone. But in reality I know you say that they would be "rare" drops, as "rare" as an exotic bounty but for some people i know they get exotic bounty drops all the time, just like some people get 2 Gjallahorns having played only a few hours and someone gets none when they play 24-7. I(I have af fiend who is on his 4th or 5th of each exotic bounty pretty much and he plays less than I do) If it is left to RNG for vouchers some people WILL still get tons of them while others get none and there WILL be exploiting. I think its best to not have a trading system. I personally already think Xur sells too much as it is. Not to say RNG/drops don't need help, they do, fix the RNG but do NOT incorporate trading! <3

Edited by OminousGryphen: 1/5/2015 2:44:16 AMit would have to be even stricter primary for primary along with the exotic for exotic also add a set amount of time you can do it a week in that sense I would think trading would be fine Also make the trade approved by bungie the stricter the better(only threw that last part in because it will never happen)

Nope. Looks like you are in the minority...

looks like you still need over 9k lol

I'm down

No trading, period! You earn what you keep and that's the way it should be. All it will do is make it easier for others when people are giving stuff away, or trading for RL cash. Which is not fair to those who play the game properly. It's just another thing to be exploited and you'll never stop that. It's within the weakness of human nature and is beyond anything to do with Destiny. If you want trading so bad, go play WoW or something similar. I'd appreciate it if everyone would quit trying to ruin this game and instead quit playing it if it's so bad for you without your precious trading... Destiny is a non-trading type of game. You work together with your teammates to overcome the challenges and reap the rewards...

1 ReplyThe best way to balance trading ive seen so far, but that being said.... Still no. As someone who constantly gets -blam!-ed by drops and is always missing that one piece of gear (usually raid boots) if i could simply trade for the items the game would lose its challenge and being max level would be less of an accomplishment... True gamers like working for something not being given things...

If there were trading in the first place, xur wouldn't be in the tower and people wouldn't flip out when everyone got their exotic. I wouldn't mind taking xur out if it meant trading could be added. What am i gonna do with duplicates of the same gun? If it were like Borderlands where there are different versions of it i wouldn't mind getting it again.
-
2 RepliesNo that would ruin the game because high lv would just trade unwanted raid gear to low lvs so everyone would be cap
-
1 ReplyWhat about a simple crypt arc trade? You hand over an exotic + strange coin + 2500 glimmer + exotic shard or something like that and it'll reroll to another exotic. Weapons will always roll weapons and armor always armor. Could have a 24 hr cooldown, or like xur only be available once a week. Only allow exotics, and while they're at it allow you to reroll the stats of an exotic. It's bad enough them being hard to find but if it comes with 150 in when you already have 95% you really want to reroll that for discipline for example.

This is a good idea. Keeps trading semi rare but still offers trading as an opportunity to get an item you want. I have multiple sought after guns (no gally) which I would love to trade for a gally.
-
No no no god no.

Dislike. Trading will only further inflate the level of noobs within the game.
