One of my favorite youtubers made a video on how introducing trading in the upcoming DLC will benefit the game AND increase playtime for all players. I also think it should be added, if you agree bump this thread so Bungie and others can see this. I encourage you to watch the video as the guy brings a lot of good points(Do note that the video is 13 minutes long), and if you can, share it with others.
Thank you for your time.
Edit #1: I appreciate the mixed opinions on the topic, keep on leaving your thought and suggesting how it can be viable (Or why there shouldn't be trading).
Edit #2: Nice, this post is now trending. People have different feelings on the subject, but most of them have good points nonetheless!
Edit #3: Okay, after reading a lot of people's responses, here are some of the methods many agreed on when trading gets added (Keep in mind, not all of these should apply):
*) Allowing members in the Fireteam in a Raid/Nightfall to trade what RNG has given to them, at a fixed time limit (60 Minutes sounds fair), and once the trade time expires, they can no longer trade with each other.
*) Exchanging Materials (Marks, Commendations, Raid Materials), and ONLY the same sort of Materials (Like trading Hunter's Material for Warlock/Titan material only, no trading it towards Shards/Energies).
*) Player must be at least a level 28 in order to trade.
*) Add more content into the game to make free trading viable (In otherwords, an exotic for an exotic trade, Legendary for a Legendary trade).
*) Introducing a Clan Vault to allow players in the Clan to trade with each other. Some have suggested to have new members wait for 30 days before they can trade, the same if they leave and wish to join a different Clan (A total of a 60 days gap to discourage farmers to sell exotics).
We're getting there Guardians, keep on leaving ideas to make it happen!

Trading is currently impossible for this game.. Sorry

Edited by bolodrog0: 1/2/2015 4:54:44 AMi dont see how trading is better for the game. I think it is better for the players who doesnt have a weapon and they look for the easiest way to get it. In my opinion you will get the weapons you dont have faster, so playtime wont be increased. I have people in my clan who has 2 weapons of the same type, so they would give them to me and i would get them faster. I just think like this because i saw a game like borderlands get ruined because of trading. First is trading, then is duping weapons.

bump. the game needs it

2 RepliesI would like to see trading for cosmetic things like class items, ships, shaders but nothing that actually effects gameplay. Feels like it would defeat the purpose of playing If u could trade for weapons and armor you want. I wouldn't mind heavy ammo synth being tradeable so I could give ppl heavy when they run out in raids .
-
6 RepliesWould be terrible. You'd see people selling exotics for real cash immediately.

I agree completely I always play with atleast the same guy he didn't buy gjallahorn neither did I but I on the other hand have had it drop 4 times and he still doesn't have it. Same guy got a VoG helmet almost every run, I didn't get my helmet until about 4 days before CE. The terribly bad Rng system in this game would be more bareable if I people weren't being bent over for months on end.
-
No cause people will abuse the system

4 RepliesHere's just ONE reason why a trading system is a horrible idea in destiny. Those who have more time to play will have an unfair advantage at farming all the good things and eventually control the games economy. This happens with EVERY game that doesn't have a huge amount of items. And destiny has a very low amount of items to be acquired. People will pretty much just want Gjallarhorn/Hunger of Crota and Icebreaker/Black Hammer anyways. Along with raid armor which isn't hard to acquire at all. Casual gamers aren't gonna wanna play as much because what they'll spend days to acquire will have like no value at all since people with no life will pretty much have a lot of everything.
-
You can add trading, but they should also add a loot system that rivals diablo 2.

1 ReplyEdited by Sknighter: 1/2/2015 3:56:31 AMHOW does this INCREASE play time.... trading would reduce play time cause then every1 would have all weps and everything so nobody would want to grind any more cause there would be no point and hes complaining that hes gotten 3 black hammers so many would love to have that snipe and no he makes absolutely no good points at all..... dumbass youtuber
-
1 ReplyIt was originally in the game until the quick cheap cuts took it out at the last minute. But yes, it needs to be in the game.
-
unfortunately in these types of games it's better to have some people wanting than all people having.
-
If trading would be added to the game you'd also have to assume a "cheese" or glitch for trading would be found . Maybe duplication?

Edited by Ben: 1/2/2015 7:04:09 AMHis logic is flawed. He keeps going on about how adding a trade system would increase play time, when in fact it will do the opposite. Think about it, if a player did the raid once and got an item he did not want, he could find someone taking that raid item for the raid item he wants. Boom, he is now done with the raid because he now has the item he wanted(assuming he wanted only that one item, but this still works with everything else i.e., a chest plate for boots). As much as I hate it, Destiny just cannot have a trade system, it will ruin everything the game is about. I would understand if the game had a bigger item base, but it doesn't. Too little items in this game, and a majority of them are to important.

No, No we dont.... How ever you go about doing it it eventually "monetizes" the environment and the MLG folks will provide crap to people. Everyone gets and keeps what they earn. If that means players like me never get to hold the Thorn...well that's the way it is.
-
How original...

2 RepliesNo this is the dumbest idea if trading is ever in destiny I promise you i will quit because it would made this game point less. Video games are fun and this is a game to grind if you dont want to do that dont play it
-
I have a dream...
-
A trading system between clans would be nice as long as bungie would take their time with it and perfect no duplicating, I think it would be a great idea.
-
-
2 RepliesI would rather just see a clan vault that basically lets you give stuff to your clan mates, but is tied to that clan so that if the person leaves the clan, the gear from that vault must be returned to the vault or just taking up inventory space which dismantle into nothing

2 RepliesTrading could work..with limitations that is.1st a separate currancy just for trading with other players...2nd a cap like vanguard and crucible have. 3rd no exotic weapon or armor trades.4th no trading raid gear or raid weapons.5th a limit to number of trades you can make in a day/hour. there are more things that would help this work. if the sytem didnt have rules like this everyone would have every item they want by the end of the first week of trading..what fun would this game be if everyone is just running around with the vex and gally. at this point in time there simply isnt enough items in the game worth having a trading system. if bungie was smart they would be working specifically on weapon and armor packs as dlc for us players but thats off subject.
-
Look this idea will be like the crucible chat Everyone wanted now it's there no one uses it.
-
No if they end up doing it, it needs to be super strict exotic for exotic and even primary for primary super strict

Sure, if you want crying to increase 10 million times more than now go ahead and root for trading. Cheesing will become a banable offense and any gear worth buying will only be accessible by purchasing it for real money on a third party site. Sounds like bliss!!!
