are you on a campus or in apartment complex ? if so you are probably not connecting directly to you isp but through the equipment of the building. For example your connection might be like so PS3 >> your router>>building router>>modem or ISP connection. if its like that you may not in control of the configuration. Are you still getting the messages about your NAT type even after you have switched it ?

Yes, I am in a town home with neighbors on two sides of me. As far as the NAT type question. I don't even know if I was doing it right. Am I supposed to change things on the PS3 also? I understand very little of what is in the configuration guide. You might as well be speaking in a different language.

Ok that's fine that actually help cus then I know how I can phrase things.I will try to help you out but by the sounds of it you may not be able to do much since you do not have access to your connection but we can at least make sure its not on your end. Do you know what router you have like the brand or just the name of it ?
-
Also, if anything is needing to happen on my computer, I have a mac with osx.

Edited by GambitCannon: 11/4/2014 8:50:55 PMOkay, it's telling me to set up a static ip address. I tried talking to comcast and they said that they don't offer that. Will that make a difference? They said that that is only available for businesses.
-
sorry I forgot about that part here you go http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm And you see when you tell your ISP (Comcast) that you want a static IP they think you want one for your house. that is normally something only businesses use for things that get alot of traffic and you have to pay quite alot of money for that.
-
Comcast is telling me that they don't have that information and that I need to contact Sony.
-
Comcast is still giving me the run around atm. I'm asking for my primary and secondary dns and they are trying to figure out what other options they will have for it... JFC, why?
-
not sure you need all that from them just tell them you are trying to set up a static IP for one of your home devices
-
Needing the primary and secondary dns is part of the directions that you sent me. I can't continue past that point without them.
-
I had told them about needing to set up a static connection and they said that it isn't available of residential customers, only business customers.
-
Edited by Jack0falltech: 11/4/2014 9:37:21 PMthe dns on your ps3 will be the same as your routers IP address
-
Okay, so step 12 on this link: http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm, I'm supposed to have the same numbers for the default router, primary dns, and secondary dns?
-
yep thats correct
-
I tried that, and it didn't work. I'm still getting a failed internet connection when I try to do it manually.
-
make sure the IP you are using is really the IP of your router here is how to do that on your mac http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/05/find-router-ip-address-mac/
-
Yes, it's the same one that I've been using
-
Ok then put your settings back to auto on your ps3 looks like this isnt on your end then
-
Okay. Thanks for clearing that up. I appreciate the amount of time you have put in to this. Are you on PS3 yourself?
-
no problem, just home someone from bungie will see this to help you out. No Im on ps4
-
Yeah, you and me both. About the bungie seeing this post, I mean.
