Ok so everyone feels this way, what's the point of a weapon being "exotic" if they're sold every other weekend by this tool of the nine? The very meaning of exotic is, and I quote "of a kind not used for ordinary purposes or not ordinarily encountered." NOT ORDINARILY ENCOUNTERED!!! They aren't "exotic if everyone encounters them! So here is my suggestion. With every public event, have a new exotic weapon and armor piece. There is a limited amount of time to earn enough reputation with that specific event, to earn yourself a true exotic item. Once the event is over, that's it! It's over, now everyone who toiled and ground out that event to get the exotic, truly has something to be envied. Something that few have earned, and nobody ever will again. THAT IS EXOTIC, THAT IS WHAT WE WANT.
Which brings me to my closing topic. Now everyone on the Destiny team is thinking. Well the people who don't have much time to play are shit out of luck. If it were me I'd say, "yea, to bad." However it's not me, and if you think everyone who badly plays will be sore about it. Implement a "pokemon" style trading system within the tower. This way people can have the oppritunity to trade for an exotic they missed out on. END RANT: EAT MY SHORTS XÜR
Shout out to DirtyRed! He came up with the basic idea.

You have an exotic, stop bitching, enjoy your gun, have a nice day.
-
Playing badly? You mean like have a full time job, a wife, kids and other responsibilities that don't allow you to drop 500 hours into this game on the off chance you might get an exotic drop play badly? Yeah I guess I fall into that categoryk. Get off of your high horse, it isn't that damn serious dude. It's a f'ing video game! Its meant to be enjoyed by everyone who bought it, Not just elitist pricks with unlimited time at their disposal. If you do it for a living good for you, wish I could too, but still, stop bitching because people other than you have good gear. It's a video game folks, get a grip.

11 RepliesI bought one exotic from xur out of my 11 but I dont mind him youre probably one of the people who cried loot cave exploits n other nonsense that doesnt effect how the game is played. Plz bring up real issues before they get overlooked again for bullshit crybaby problems like this

1 ReplyI got the patience and time 2 weeks ago from the nightfall, now everyone is using my sniper :( (IMO the patience and time sucks bacause of the useless high zoom scope, i prefer my thorn and anf the ephitaph sniper)
-
2 RepliesIf they take away xur then what is the point of weeklies and night falls and the strange coins or motes of light? By asking to take away xur you're basically asking them to change everything about how the game operates. I earned whatever I buy from xur by putting the time in to complete weekly strikes and gain engrams that I can break down for coins or motes. Also, although I know why you think it means what you think it means, exotic really just means strange or unusual. Not necessarily rare. Fruits only found in Japan are exotic to Americans but not to the Japanese and vice versa. That being said, I would be all for a mythic or unique class that would only be obtained through particularly challenging events that you could only gain one time ever though. That would certainly keep things interesting.

Edited by ViperCraft: 11/2/2014 3:50:57 AMIs a weapon any less good if everyone has it? It's not the weapon man, it's how you use it. A lot of people have exotics in their vaults that they never use, but others use it all the time and own. Be happy you got it, use it all the time and own everyone that doesn't know how to use it. Or in pve, benefit your team with a weapon that you own with. Sheesh!

1 ReplyI think this post is addressing the rarity of exotics. Or the lack of it. I'm fine with people owning the same gun through purchase rather than RNG. But if he's offering to sell it to everyone, is it really rare? Can you imagine, WoW players, if Legendary items such as the (now redundant) Corrupted Ashbringer were offered to all players with the right amount of currency for a weekend? That's great for power reasons if you need it but it doesn't feel rare.

5 RepliesDude -blam!-ing cry about it. Its a gun in a -blam!-ing video game.. We paid 60 bucks for this videogame just like you did. Don't act like you deserve it anymore than we do. -blam!-ing tardos man.

I just got one from a strike xD

Honestly I am still unsure of my opinion on Xür... I for one will freely admit that I grabbed my fist 2 exotic armour pieces from him as soon as I could becase I was fully decked out in legendary and needed to level up desperately. I can see here why he is useful. However, I also understand where OP is coming from. I got an exotic fusion rifle called Plan C a shirt time ago after beating the Nightfall for the first time - a total rush btw. Since then I have only seen a few people with the same weapon and I am happe that I have a more or less unique gun... But for how long? I think they should have made some weaker exotics to be sold by Xür. Then you would have others to be obtained through bounties and still others to be randomly found after difficult challenges, all of which do not appear with Xür. This way we would be able to start of with Xür and then progress up the ladder to the more rare items. Just my two cents

Wow your post is so original! Stop crying and accept the fact that you're not as special as you thought. Idc if I just got the patience and time from a nightfall, it still feels fine to me. I don't even notice that everyone has it unless I'm playing PvP
-
5 RepliesYea, if everyone could just read the whole article before commenting their ignorant responses, that'd be great.

Whatever - don't be elitist.
-
1 ReplyToo bad some exotics are trash compared to their legendary counter parts.

9 Replies"The gun that I found tumbling out of a thrall is no longer special! I'm going to some about how the players who grinded out dozens of strikes got the same thing after putting in several times the work! "

He came up with the basic idea.
I like Xür, agent of the nine. I've earned exotics through nightfalls, raids, and weekly strikes... And how do you pay for Xür's goods? You complete nightfalls and weekly strikes for coins... So in essence it's the exact same way of earning the exotics. You have to play to pay and play to earn drops. This anti-Xür community is a bunch of people that HAVE purchased Xür goods and used them... Yet they argue his role in the game? That's like saying you're a vegan but you eat meat in secret. Nonsense.

I like the idea, but I want them to be damn near impossible to obtain.
-
next week he'll sell the Last Word. I know this because every time my friend gets a somewhat rare exotic Xur sells it the following week.
-
3 RepliesIt's a problem indeed I think the best solution is to make the exotic guns being sold like 75 strange coins to purchase
-
I'm really pissed off i did nightfall strikes and weekly strikes. Chased all kinds of public events. Turned in hundreds of engrams just to get enough strange coins to buy my ice breaker. Then i find out people just get them as a random drop. That's sucks i think they should stop this lucky random drop cráp, and make everyone work for there exotics like i did.
sarcasm stupid
1 ReplyExotic=/=Rare. If you want rare get raid gear. Or better, add hard mode raid gear. Also let us change how we look regardless of what is actually equipped.
